If (when) you're off for a lengthy stay camping in Slovenia, you must (really really really) make time for a leisurely visit to Ljubljana. (Only for starters, you understand; your extensive tour of this most excellent land can excitedly continue from here.)
Still mostly unvisited by the marauding hordes even in the summer season, Slovenia's capital is topping, home to a splendid medieval castle atop Castle Hill (views from here highly recommended), as well as piles of Romanesque and Renaissance buildings, a green-domed cathedral, five bridges and a river flowing through.
And after that? Traverse the Ljubljana Marshes, one of three UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Slovenia; make your way to the fab old town of Ptuj, or take a roam around the woods: over half the country is covered by thick forests.
But frankly you'll find something jaw-dropping to see or social media boastworthy to do wherever you visit in this fab and compact little land.
