  • Well-equipped and peaceful family site in the Landes forest
  • Lake Biscarrosse five minutes' drive; 15 minutes to Mimizan beach
  • Heated outdoor pools, restaurant and summer activities on site
Forest, lake, ocean… which are the best views? There’s no need to make a choice when you stay at Camping Les Bruyeres, as this Landes site has easy access to all of the above landscapes from its location near Sainte-Eulalie-en-Born. Five minutes’ drive from the village centre gets you to this peaceful spot in the forest, with lots of greenery all around and plenty of shaded spots to chill out in. The southern end of Lake Biscarrosse is five minutes’ drive away, and you can get to the seaside town of Mimizan in about 15 minutes for a long sandy beach. Such a setting means there are plenty of options around for active days out, including walks, bike rides, horse riding, canoeing, golf and surfing. And the setup on site means there are plenty of options for keeping yourselves entertained right there too – with a highlight being the heated outdoor pool complex, which has a kids’ pool and whirlpools as well as the main pool. As for dry-side activities, take your pick from the tennis court, beach volleyball court, pétanque court and classic family games such as badminton and Molkky. There’s also a playground, a bunch of board games to borrow and a summertime programme of organised activities for kids and grownups alike. A whole lot of practicalities are sorted here as well, including a launderette, wifi and bathrooms with disabled access. Naturally, food is a big event too, whether you pick up local produce and everyday essentials at the food shop and head to the barbecue area or settle in at a table in the restaurant to have your meal cooked for you. If you choose the latter it may be handy to know there’s a kids’ menu as well as the main menu of local dishes.

Local attractions

Coming to the area to enjoy lots of lovely fresh air? The folk on site can point you towards good places to go for a walk or bike ride, and there’s also horse riding (15 minutes’ drive), a sailing school/watersports centre at Lake Biscarrosse (10 minutes) and treetop trails at Landes Adventure Park (10 minutes). Over at the coast, Mimizan (15 minutes) has surf schools and a golf course – although you may well simply choose to relax on the gorgeous sandy beach there, perhaps stirring yourself occasionally for a paddle or a swim. There are lots of other lovely beaches around too – and the extraordinary sight of the Dune du Pilat (50 minutes), the tallest dune in Europe. Time for some relaxation? Head to Dax (an hour), a spa resort with several thermal baths where the water is said to have healing properties.
