  • Upscale glamping site five minutes’ drive from Biograd na Moru
  • Soline Beach 20 minutes’ walk and Zadar 40 minutes’ drive
  • Luxurious family tents; swimming pool, restaurant and barbecue on site
Round up the family and get ready for a Croatian glamping adventure… that’s right, you’re off to Grande Glamping, five minutes’ drive from the colourful seaside resort of Biograd na Moru and 20 minutes’ stroll through forest to popular Soline Beach. This is a small, pretty and peaceful spot at which to unwind in considerable comfort. The spacious and quietly luxurious glamping tents are designed for families, and are kitted out with a king-size bed in the master bedroom and bunks and singles in the kids’ room. Each one can sleep up to five guests and includes a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, bathroom, air conditioning and a spacious terrace with swimming pool views. Talking of the pool, it’s heated, filled with salt water and has a shallow end for novice swimmers and toddlers. Also on site is a playground for kids to stretch their legs, and you can make new friends in the terrace restaurant – open for breakfast through to supper – where there’s also an area for barbecuing and a licensed bar.

Local attractions

If you want to stay local, head down to the Adriatic Sea’s lively Soline Beach (20 minutes’ walk), where you can find plenty to amuse the kids, from safe swimming in gentle waves to clambering about on the inflatable climbing course and renting paddleboards to explore the volcanic coastline. If they are still running on excess energy, Adventure Park Biograd (five minutes’ drive) might just tire them out with kart racing and rope courses wending through the tree canopy. Buzzy Biograd na Moru (also five minutes) is a pretty spot for ambles around cobbled streets or evening drinks in seafront bars, and it’s also the jumping-off spot for day trips to the scattered islands of Kornati National Park (around 90 minutes on a boat cruise with swimming stops). Zadar (40 minutes’ drive) makes a popular day trip for its historic Roman-era centre and handsome Byzantine churches, and don’t miss the surreal Sea Organ – played by the tidal ebb and flow of the sea – designed by architect Nikola Bašić and found on the beachfront esplanade.
