  • Smart self-contained camping pods at a 20-acre Carmarthenshire park
  • A mile from historic Kidwelly; 15 mins' drive to Pembrey Country Park
  • Farm shop and café on site; profits support a charitable foundation
Now here’s a place that will really gladden the heart – the stylish pods at Gwlad Glamping are in gorgeous surroundings, and a stay here will directly benefit the work of the charitable foundation that’s also run by the owners. The glampsite is part of a 20-acre rural property in Carmarthenshire that’s also home to a well-stocked farm shop, a large café, a play area and a dog adventure park. The historic town of Kidwelly, with its castle, shops, pubs and takeaways, is about a mile away. There’s also a railway station in town for those who’d like to travel on public transport. Gwlad Glamping makes a fabulous base for exploring this part of West Wales, perhaps spending days on the beach, roaming through the countryside, visiting places like the National Botanic Garden of Wales or planning family days out at the likes of Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo. In between all these days out you’ll be coming back to a cosy camping pod, each of which has its own deck area where you can sit out to soak up some of that scenery. Each pod is self contained with its own bathroom and kitchen area as well as heating, power sockets and proper beds. Bed linen and towels are provided to help you keep your packing to a minimum. And if all of that wasn’t enticing enough, it’s good to know that profits from the glampsite go towards the work of the John Burns Foundation, which sponsors reading dogs and also supports members of the community who are socially isolated or disabled.

Daisy 2 bedroom camping pod (hot tub)

Liked: Amazing facilities, everything you could possibly need and more, we hired Daisy with the hot tub. Even with little bit of rain we still enjoyed with fantastic views. Will definitely be back in the near future.

Disliked: Could possibly do with some salt and pepper also maybe a curtain on the pod door for little bit more privacy and help keep flys out.

Daisy 2 bedroom camping pod (hot tub)

Liked: Lovely new large pod . Super comfy beds . The hot tube is an excellent optional extra. It's amazing on a clear night with all the stars shining The cafe and farm shop are there to use aswell. We have a nice welcome hamper with the basics and a few treats. They also gave a gift for the dog and some vouchers for the cafe and dog park. And the sausages in the farm shop are fantastic

Disliked: Could do with bbq by your pod instead of just a communal fire pit

Violet 2 bedroom camping pod

Liked: We liked how beautiful the huts were, and how well equipped they were. The outside area was fenced off and perfect for our dog to wander around on. The staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough, they were local too so were able to give good recommendations on things to do and see. The welcome pack included a money off voucher for the cafe in the farm shop across the road as well as a few goodies from there, which we loved as it meant we stopped by for breakfast on our departure and to purchase some bits from the farm shop for our drive home. Again, the dog welcome pack included a free half an hour session at their enclosed dog park which was of high quality and a huge space for our dog to run around in. There were also treats and food left for us from the farms brand which our dog loved so we ended up buying some for the road too. Overall the place far exceeded our expectations, it’s right by a beautiful castle and scenic beaches which we enjoyed spending all weekend exploring. We would definitely stay here again if we are back in the area and recommend to friends.

Disliked: No dislikes at all - however just to highlight to other prospective visitors that our 4.5kg dog was able to slip through one of the railings in the secure garden which wasn’t a problem and was an easy fix with a spoon through her harness or having her on a long line.
