  • Adults-only farm site in the Brecon Beacons with stunning rural views
  • A 10-minute drive to Pontypool; 20 minutes to Llandegfedd Reservoir
  • Working farm with cattle, sheep and pigs; campfires permitted
Away to the Brecon Beacons National Park with a plan to tackle a mountain or few? Monmouthshire site Court Bleddyn Farm is 10 minutes’ drive away from Pontypool and in a handy position for getting out to the likes of the Sugar Loaf, Skirrid and Blorenge. And it also happens to be on the route of the Cambrian Way for those seeking stopovers on long-distance treks. Don’t worry if all the talk of mountains and multi-day walks sounds like not your kind of thing… you can also head here for some splendid seclusion, simply putting your feet up to enjoy the great views over the Little Mountain and Vale of Usk or watching the farm’s cattle, sheep and Tamworth pigs going about their daily business. Plan your days however you wish, then head back to the site for a relaxed alfresco evening: it’s all very laidback here, with campfires and barbecues allowed and simple facilities in the form of a shower, toilet block, portable toilets and a washing-up area. The nearest small supermarket is five minutes’ drive away, and there are more options for eating and shopping in Pontypool.

Black Mountain shepherd's hut

Liked: The setting of the hut is beautiful, with far reaching views across the valley. The hut itself is cosy and well equipped and we really enjoyed breakfast outside with a view in the morning. The owners are lovely and very approachable. We would definitely love to come back one day!

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Incredible views, welcoming hosts, lots of space and lots of lovely walks close by. If you are okay with a back-to-basics set up this is a really beautiful and peaceful spot to stay. There are shops and places to eat nearby. The facilities were also very clean.

Powered grass tent campsite

Liked: We stayed in the Shepherds Hut on this site which was clean and well set up, just as described on the website. The views were stunning out to the east and south, and among the rain showers we saw a beautiful rainbow over the folly. Thank you to the hosts for opening up their farm for camping and for taking excellent care of us. We will definitely recommend this site to others and will return here ourselves if we ever make it out to camp in South Wales again.

Black Mountain shepherd's hut

Liked: The location is stunning, with beautiful views of rolling hills into the distance. I booked the electric grass tent pitch for my wife and I and the Black Mountain Shepherds Hut for my parents. The hosts were very welcoming and took excellent care of use, including maintaining the toilet to a high standard of cleanliness.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: The views at the farm were amazing and the location was brill. We had the whole farm to ourselves for one night and 2 acres of field for ourselves for the entire trip. Barbara was lovely and let us go and see the pigs / ponies etc. very basic facilities which was what we were after. Close to wild camping. Campfires and bbqs allowed which was great. Weather was rubbish when we stayed but it was still such a great stay! Plenty to see nearby & food options if rustic cooking isn’t your thing. Staff were accommodating and lent us a fire pit for our stay. Portaloo was very clean.

Disliked: So much more could be done with this farm. It has the space and views and has so much potential. We feel if the family had more help / vision this could be absolutely unreal and a real money maker

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: We were looking for a reasonably priced spot for one night. That's exactly what we got. A warm welcome and stunning views. This was wild camping so only a toilet on site but that's all we needed. Lovely walks just outside the gate, as its on the Cambrian way. Just down the lane there is a Spar shop and Ali's chip shop which was fantastic. There was a barbecue on our pitch but we were travelling light (on motorbikes) so choose the chippy option which we ate looking over the amazing views sitting at the picnic table that was provided.
