  • Small-scale site on an Eryri smallholding close to the A470
  • A 20-minute drive from Blaenau Ffestiniog
  • Village pub and shop 15 minutes’ walk; firepit at each pitch
With walks around mountains and lakes, or zipwires, subterranean trampolines and mountain biking a short drive away, Camp Stesion is never too far from outdoorsy activities… that’s very good news for active sorts. This laidback Eryri site is just as good for scenery seekers – it’s on a smallholding with stunning mountain views. You’ll need an early start to make the most of Blaenau Ffestiniog, Zip World Llechwedd and Antur Stiniog’s mountain biking trails (all within 20 minutes’ drive). This is a small-scale site where under-14s are not permitted. You get plenty of wild scenery, with the added comforts of toilets, hot showers, an outdoor sink and drinking water. A communal kitchen is another handy addition, giving you shared use of a freezer, a gas cooker and hob, cooking utensils and pots and pans. You'll just need to bring your own cups and plates with you, and then you're ready to tuck in. There’s no wifi, but there's good 4G coverage, and each pitch type comes with its own firepit. It’s also a quiet site, and the peace is upheld since loud music, group bookings and motorhomes are not allowed. Easy to get about? Another tick in the box. The site is just off the A470 and there’s a biking centre just 10 minutes’ drive away. Trawsfynydd is accessible on foot (15 minutes’ walk), and there you can grab basic supplies in the village shop or cosy up for a meal in the local pub.

Squirrel camping pod

Liked Everything about Camp Stesion was brilliant. It had the rustic appeal, yet the comfiness of the Squirrel Pod that we stayed in for 4 nights. The owners were very chatty and extremely helpful and friendly.
Their was nothing to dislike about the stay. The views were simply amazing and also the locals were equally friendly and helpful.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Very small site, adults only, no groups and no pets. Small 2 toilet and 2 shower block and cooking facilities, freezer for ice blocks. Owners of site really friendly. Peaceful although road near by and can hear traffic in day but not at night so it did not bother us.

Bell tent

Liked What a gorgeous site this is!
The grounds and facilities are perfect!
Communication and organisation was great too. Our plans were disrupted slightly due to the government fire ban but the site kindly arranged for a gas oven to be on site whilst I had only planned for a bbq (as I was only staying one night)
The bell tent was lovely, clean and the warm lights around the tent were great.
The other site accommodation looked amazing too.
Will be definitely returning to experience the fire!
Thanks for having us

Fox Den with hammocks camping pod

Liked Amazing location and views.
Clean and tidy cabin with lovely hammocks!

Disliked Showers needed a dry changing area with some more hooks and were a bit hot/cold.
A little expensive for the standard of accommodation.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: We were not aware of the showers being hot and cold until yesterday, this issue has been sorted now. Apologies!
We will install more hooks and sort out more drying space.
Thank you for staying with us and taking the time to raise these issues.

Bee camping pod

Liked Amazing views.
Quality cabin
Great shower.
Phone charger.

Disliked A little too remote, the only close by pub is a good walk away.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review! We’re delighted you enjoyed the cabin, views and facilities. 😊 Just for clarification for future guests the nearest pub is around a 10-minute scenic walk away, although we appreciate that everyone’s idea of a “good walk” is different! 😂 Thank you for choosing to stay with us.

Squirrel camping pod

Liked We had the most amazing stay. The place was easy to find and a short 10-15 minute walk to the local pub where we met the most lovely people. We came back to our cabin for the night with an incredible view of the stars, we could see the milky way clear as anything and the meteor shower. Such incredible memories made in just one night's stay - we are 100% coming back and booking again.
The bed was incredibly comfy, we'd be curious to know what matress it was as it beats ours by a landslide! It was nice and insulating too. Charging points in the toilets were very handy and safely secured under lock and key. Honestly the most perfect place.
We had great internet connection. The view was incredible.

Disliked Nothing at all. It was incredible.

Local attractions

Kicking off your getaway with some action won’t be a problem. Take a 35-minute walk to Llyn Trawsfynydd and you could be hiking, cycling or fishing. Up for a drive instead? Tear up the mountain biking trails of Coed-y-Brenin (15 minutes’ drive) and the downhill runs at Antur Stiniog (20 minutes). Zip World Llechwedd (20 minutes) has zipwires and underground trampolines for bounces beneath the slate. A little local heritage for you too? Blaenau Ffestiniog (20 minutes) is a historic mining town with plenty of that to explore, or you could tackle the Precipice Walk (20 minutes), a scenic trail that traces the route of an old tramway. There’s really plenty of variety around here to keep everyone busy, from the Pistyll Cain waterfall (20 minutes) to Barmouth’s seaside amusements and many outdoor activities (35 minutes).
