With walks around mountains and lakes, or zipwires, subterranean trampolines and mountain biking a short drive away, Camp Stesion is never too far from outdoorsy activities… that’s very good news for active sorts. This laidback Eryri site is just as good for scenery seekers – it’s on a smallholding with stunning mountain views. You’ll need an early start to make the most of Blaenau Ffestiniog, Zip World Llechwedd and Antur Stiniog’s mountain biking trails (all within 20 minutes’ drive). This is a small-scale site where under-14s are not permitted. You get plenty of wild scenery, with the added comforts of toilets, hot showers, an outdoor sink, drinking water and a freezer for your cool boxes. There’s no wifi, but there's good 4G coverage, and each pitch type comes with its own firepit. It’s also a quiet site, and the peace is upheld since loud music, group bookings and motorhomes are not allowed. Easy to get about? Another tick in the box. The site is just off the A470 and there’s a biking centre just 10 minutes’ drive away. Trawsfynydd is accessible on foot (15 minutes’ walk), and there you can grab basic supplies in the village shop or cosy up for a meal in the local pub.

Mi è piaciuto Our stay was perfect from start to finish.
The hot tub was incredible (once we actually read the instructions — I’ll blame my partner for that one!). The indoor fire heated the space beautifully, and the fire pit with fairy lights outside made the evening feel magical. The bed was extremely comfortable, and because I always strip the bed before leaving, I noticed how remarkably white and clean the pillows were — a small detail that says a lot. The hosts were genuinely fantastic. We had a flat tyre on our trailer, and they immediately pointed us to a garage where nothing was too much trouble and the repair was done perfectly. Waking up to the sound of sheep and birds was beautiful, and the views were absolutely stunning. Having our own kitchen, toilet, and shower made the stay feel even more private and relaxed. All in all, we would 100% stay here again on our next visit to Wales.

Mi è piaciuto This is an absolute gem of a place, the cabin was beautiful as were the surroundings. I had a lovely peaceful evening in the hot tub before retiring into the super comfy bed. The owners are really friendly and helpful, nothing too much trouble.

We appreciate the feedback.

We understand that a 10:00am checkout can feel early, and we’d love to offer later checkouts if we could.
However, as we are one of the few shepherd’s huts with a private hot tub that also accepts one-night stays, we only have a four-hour window to prepare everything for our next guests. In that time we have to thoroughly clean and disinfect the hut, change all the bedding, restock supplies, and completely empty, clean sterilise and refill the hot tub to ensure it is safe and ready to use.

We often receive requests for both late checkouts and early check-ins, but unfortunately it’s simply not possible if we are to maintain the high standards of cleanliness and hygiene that our guests expect.

Mi è piaciuto Lovely little site, great views, clean facilities and lovely hot showers. Although no WiFi phone signal was great. Location was great for us to go hiking and sightseeing, staff were friendly and communication was good with texts day before and day of arrival with instructions.

Mi è piaciuto Stunningly clean with beautiful views. My partner and I stayed here Friday-Saturday after hiking Snowdon which was also an amazing experience. It was amazing to sit by the fire with only the sound of nature to cook our food and by the time we ate the hot tub was a great temperature to sooth our legs. Very comfy bed and was pleasantly surprised by how much space we had! We enjoyed it so much that we have already spoken about a possible return trip later in the year! Thank you very much

Kicking off your getaway with some action won’t be a problem. Take a 35-minute walk to Llyn Trawsfynydd and you could be hiking, cycling or fishing. Up for a drive instead? Tear up the mountain biking trails of Coed-y-Brenin (15 minutes’ drive) and the downhill runs at Antur Stiniog (20 minutes). Zip World Llechwedd (20 minutes) has zipwires and underground trampolines for bounces beneath the slate. A little local heritage for you too? Blaenau Ffestiniog (20 minutes) is a historic mining town with plenty of that to explore, or you could tackle the Precipice Walk (20 minutes), a scenic trail that traces the route of an old tramway. There’s really plenty of variety around here to keep everyone busy, from the Pistyll Cain waterfall (20 minutes) to Barmouth’s seaside amusements and many outdoor activities (35 minutes).
