  • Family run for over 40 years, two miles from the beach at New Quay
  • Nature pond surrounded by acres of peaceful space
  • Pool, play areas, arcade, kids' club and clubhouse with two bars
Want to pitch up in splendid New Quay on the Ceredigion coast, former home of Dylan Thomas and 20 minutes’ drive from Cardigan Bay, known for its bottlenose dolphins? Pitch up at Pencnwc Holiday Park. It’s less than two miles from New Quay’s safe beaches and harbour walls, five miles from the sands at Ceredigion and 20 from the university town of Aberystwyth; Cardigan is the same distance to the south. The site has been family-run for over 40 years, so there's plenty to do for guests of all inclinations. Let the kids take their pick from two on-site play areas, a big amusement arcade, splashing around in the heated indoor pool with adjacent paddling pool, or getting stuck into art, jewellery, sport and games at the free kids’ club. The entertainment (available every day through the school holidays and every weekend for the rest of the year) runs into the evenings in Merlin’s Den, one of the two bars in the clubhouse, and is suitable for all sizes. Seeking grownup time? Head to the second pub, Smugglers Bar, for a coffee, newspaper or catching up with what’s happening in the world of sport on the bar’s numerous TVs. The bar also serves meals (including breakfasts and lunches), and there's a tempting range of street food to take away – think pizzas, loaded fries and smashed burgers. You may like to take your munchies to the on-site nature pond, where acres of space abound for quiet contemplation (and no one nicking your chips). On-site amenities include loo and shower blocks with hot water, a modern launderette and a washing-up area all kept in spankingly good order among the flowers, shrubbery and well-maintained grounds. There’s no food shop on site, but there are two at the nearby village of Cross Inn, a few minutes’ walk away.

Liked The location, staff where friendly. Pitch sizes where good. Nice local shop only 5 mins walk away. Everything was clean and looked after.
Nice food from bar.
Lovely barti rum must give it a try!

Disliked No water at our pitch but was on others.
No dogs inside bar ( could have let them go in first bit that was like a conservatory).
No dogs in amusement bit...bit hard when you are away with kids and pets as someone always had to stay outside.
Washing area taps where rubbish.
No hose on chemical waste to help wash toilet waste out.
Shower door had no lock (ladies).
All easy fixable things.
Not a lot of choice on menus. But food was nice.
Not much to do for older kids.

Liked Liked the facilities there - park, evening entertainment. Close to the beach and they also have a free shuttle.

Disliked How far away the shower and toilet block was, there wasn’t very many water stations. The pool was also cold and as it was a plain pool the lifeguards wouldn’t allow any inflatables.

Liked The best site we've stayed at! Super clean & tidy. Spacious pitches, well presented toilet & shower blocks & plenty of things to do!! Our son really enjoyed the two on site parks - they're both well maintained & great for all ages. The bar areas both inside & out were inviting & the staff were friendly. The pool was a lovely bonus to the site along with the Arcade. We got to enjoy some bingo & live music during our 2 night stay! Delicious food served & a great service which we didnt know about until arriving on site was the free bus down into New Quay which ran daily.

Disliked There was nothing to dislike, we cannot wait to return!

Local attractions

The traditional fishing village of New Quay, two miles away, is, of course, a fine place for fishing – such boat trips bob out from the harbour here, as do dolphin-spotting outings. There's a fine population of the marine mammals nearby but for a cast-iron guarantee of wildlife sightings you may like to drop in at the town's Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre. The market town of Cardigan (a hub for active pursuits) and the university town of Aberystwyth are both 20 miles away. Top local beaches are at Aberaeron (15 minutes' drive), and Llangrannog (20 minutes).
