Lovely park, but dont cater very well for lone travelers with pets

Liked I liked the holiday park and the tavern and the donuts and piza place and having a shop on site was really good. The showers were clean and hot.
Disliked I was refused entry in to the tavern with my wee dog. I only wanted to go in and get a drink then go outside and sit in the sun. The answer and solution i got was to tie my dog up outside, which i was not gonna do.
I also asked if they did a table service which i was told they did not.
The shower and toilet facilities at the camping field are ok but since the size of the field is as big as it is there needs to be more and of a better standard than the porta cabins.

We are genuinely sorry about the experience with your wee dog. We completely understand why tying them up outside wasn’t an option, and we’re sorry the alternative offered wasn’t particularly helpful. We’ll take that feedback on board, along with your comments about table service.
We also appreciate the feedback regarding the camping facilities. As the camping field gets busier, we understand why additional facilities would make a difference and it’s something worth us looking at.

Disliked I camped close to the road so a little noisier than expected, but that was my own fault, I will camp further down the field next time.

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC SITE

Liked I would like to start by mentioning that I only booked this one night stay (a Thursday night) around 5.30pm and found it very good value and upon arrival and seeing all on offer, I was even more impressed
This site has static caravans (Holiday Homes), but also seems to cater for Motorhomes, touring caravans and tents alike.
This is a Huge site with a Golf Course as well. There is a Campsite layout available on paper to aid navigation until used to the layout, so don't panic.
The camping area in which to pitch tents was huge, the shower block was very good and although there didn't seem to be an option for adjusting either the power or heat of the water, it was nevertheless perfectly good as it was and they are FREE.
Very clean and spacious too.
The toilet block was similarly clean and functioned well...
There seemed plenty of various facilities for the entire family including an adventure park, snack bar, takeaway and a bar/restaurant.
The Bar seemed to have entertainment on site in the evenings, pub quiz was on the night I was there...
There seemed to be several people making use of all the facilities when I was there and the park was being well enjoyed by everyone, adults and children alike.
I did notice there were laundry facilities on site in the middle of the park as well...
Unfortunately as I arrived in the evening, I was unable to avail of the food options by the time I set my tent up but I did have a few alcoholic beverages in the bar and they were good quality and reasonably priced.
I loved the fact that there were Rabbits running around wild and anyone with a dog seemed to be keeping their dog on a leash and respecting not just the wildlife but the property and personal space of other site users.
I found the site very good value and it was suitably quiet when it came to bedtime.
The grass was well maintained and the following morning the site was being inspected by staff in a grounds vehicle for any rubbish that may have been inadvertently discarded or blown about.
I overheard them chatting to other park users and saying that they work long hours in the summer to maintain high standards and it showed... Might I also add that the staff didn't seem to mind the extra hours either...

Overall a very pleasant stay and I would definitely stay again if I was in the vicinity.
You would be hard pressed to be disappointed with this Site, so visit if You can.

As a motorcyclist, I would have liked a tarmac surface rather than a loose stone one for getting around to the camping area.
The shower requires the basin tap to be pressed first and at the same time as the shower button in order to start the shower.
It worked but the one I used needed one hand on the shower button consistently otherwise the water stopped.
(I'm not sure if this was isolated to the shower I was in but if this was the case for all the showers, then it is more than a mild inconvenience to be fair.)
The entrance door to the toilet block was on a strong spring to ensure it closed after each use, but the noise when the door shut was quite loud, especially during the night.
I think this could be easily remedied with a sponge type surround and a slightly weaker spring.
BUT TO REITERATE THESE ARE MINOR GRUMBLES FOR WHAT IS OTHERWISE A NEAR PERFECT SITE

Liked The toilets and shower block were decent. The facilities were good- play park, restaurant and bar and outdoor food venue all nice.
Disliked There was nobody patrolling the pitches at night. The group in tents nearby to use sat up drinking and talking at a very loud volume all night long which impacted my whole family. I couldn’t get to sleep for the noise and my young child was woken by it several times. I also felt unsafe knowing that if something was to happen there was no security etc around.

Disliked From arrival it wasn't particularly welcoming and continued to get worse. Thought we had booked an actual grass pitch (for a very similar price to a hardstanding I might add) but were told to park anywhere on a vast open field, meaning if you went out for the day you could lose your spot and people could pitch right next to you. The site was also setting up for a massive music festival meaning that the entire field was surrounded by herris fencing making it feel like a prison camp!! We were not informed upon booking or on arrival that the site would be like this- not remotely as advertised on the site. If we would have known we wouldn't have booked! It is also worth noting that the field facilities are at the top end of a very long field so you either pitch up right by everyone or have a very long walk. The facilities were also primitive and disgusting. It was portacabin showers where you had to press the sink button, followed by the shower button to get it going... so if you didn't time it right and keep pressing the shower button the whole thing turned off and you had to start again. Couple that with the light going off every two seconds as it was on sensor, it made for an very infuriating experience!! There is also no recycling avaliable on the field, its somewhere way up by site entrance. The elsen point also has no direct parking by it and you have to drive through a maze of other hardstanding and lodge pitches to find it. There was no hot water to wash up on the field meaning everything was left greasy and had to be washed at home again!
The hardstanding/ tourer pitch loos we were made to feel we wernt allowed to use. We did pop in when we used to elsen point and they were worlds better than the pitiful offerings on the camping field, modern and much cleaner. Although the gents taps wernt working and apparently hadn't been for years according to another site guest.
Also the advertised WiFi did not work on the camping field
Having spent only £7 more for a hard standing site on Mull a few days earlier, with hook up, incredible views and fantastic facilities I cant help but wonder what on earth is going on at this site???

From the manager: Thanks for the detailed review. We’re disappointed you found absolutely “nothing” to like, although you certainly managed to experience almost every corner of the park during your stay!
Our non-electric camping area is an open grass field rather than individually allocated pitches — something many guests actually love because it gives families and groups flexibility to pitch together.
The camping field is around 10 acres and wasn’t particularly busy during your stay, so there was plenty of choice available. In fact, the photos you uploaded with your review show just how much open space there was around you. You chose to pitch in one of the furthest corners of the field, which naturally meant a longer walk to the facilities. We’re not entirely sure we can take responsibility for all ten acres suddenly becoming longer after you pitched!
The fencing was in place while preparations were underway for an event. We appreciate it wasn’t particularly scenic, although “prison camp” might be giving our temporary fencing slightly more dramatic powers than it deserves!
We do accept that our camping facilities need improvement. The shower operation clearly shouldn’t feel like completing a Crystal Maze challenge just to get washed, and comments regarding hot water, recycling and the location of facilities are useful feedback that we’ll take on board.
However, we’re sorry you felt you weren’t allowed to use the touring facilities — campers are absolutely welcome to use the main touring shower and toilet block. We’d much rather you used them than spent your holiday battling buttons, sensors and a shower that apparently had a mind of its own!
As for Mull being £7 cheaper, we can’t really argue with an entire Scottish island on price or scenery — that feels like slightly unfair competition!
You’ve made it very clear that you won’t be returning and, given that our park clearly isn’t the right fit for you, we’re equally pleased we can agree on that. We wish you many happy future camping trips — perhaps somewhere with a slightly smaller field!
