The green barn bar

  • Dorset country park with 52 acres of meadows and woodland
  • A 20-minute drive from Bournemouth and the New Forest National Park
  • Fishing lake, bar, play area and basic shop; stables for pony walking
Tucked away between the Cranborne Chase National Landscape and the New Forest National Park, Meadow View Country Park is in a fabulous location for outdoor activities among splendid scenery – and it’s also well placed for getting out to beaches, heritage sites and animal attractions around Dorset and Hampshire. This 52-acre country park about 15 minutes’ drive from both Ringwood and Wimborne Minster also has extensive meadows and woodlands of its own, so there’s plenty of space for kids to play and dogs to be walked as well as some nice quiet corners in which to relax. The park also has a nice bunch of facilities for kids and grownups, including a play area, a fishing lake, picnic areas and a stables that runs activities such as pony walks. A basic site shop is stocked with essentials, and there's also a bar that runs regular events such as pizza nights. For any other foodie needs (perhaps supplies for your barbecue?), there are supermarkets within a 10-minute drive. This part of Dorset is full of lovely scenery, and plenty of country pubs and walking and biking trails. The nearest pub, which serves food and has a spacious beer garden, is a two-minute drive down the road, and there are several more within a five-minute drive. The Dorset coast, including Bournemouth, is a 20-minute drive away, and beaches of Southbourne, Avon and Highcliffe are 35 minutes’ drive away.

What customers say

This campground offers plenty of space and a peaceful vibe, with a great barn bar serving popular pizzas. Staff are welcoming, and kids have lots of room to play. While it's still developing, improvements are ongoing, like new restrooms near the barn. Previously, amenity access was an issue, especially for families. Some glamping amenities had problems. Overall, it's clean and well-kept.

Liked Views, safari tent and clean toilets and showers

Disliked Some children that lived there/visited as residents weren’t very kind. No information given about when to visit the on site stables.

From the manager: Hello,

Thank you for your review — we're glad you enjoyed the views, the safari tent, and found the toilets and showers clean during your stay.

We're sorry to hear about your experience with some of the other children on site — this doesn't sound like the friendly atmosphere we aim for, and we'd really encourage guests to let our team know if anything like this comes up during a stay so we can look into it directly. It's not an issue we're currently aware, so thank you for letting us know.

On the animals/stables, we did send full details along with a booking link in your pre-arrival email, and followed up with a text to flag it in case it landed in a spam folder — but we take your point that this is easy to miss among everything else being sent beforehand. It's a great suggestion, so thank you — we'll look at adding some additional signage or information within the accommodation itself so it's easier to find during your stay.

Thanks again for your feedback — we hope to have the chance to offer you an even better experience in the future.

Warm regards,
The Meadow View Country Park Team

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Pitching area was adequate because it was spacious

Disliked Our experience with medow view was truely unexceptable and fully disappointing, the money we paid for our stay was extortionate for the service we reciced . The toilets were truly inconvenient, why on earth would you have the toilet facilities right next to the static homes which all have toilets in. Causing a exceptionally long walk for a toilet block that evidently wasn't thought through. The showers. Wow. You cannot regulate the temper at all. The showers were crazily hot. Having no disabled access toilets caused alot of issues for my father, who is disabled and is wheelchair chair bound. Now finally, no beer on draught in the "bar". And oh my god , wow. My group all had ice creams and it was opened and a whole scoop was taken out of it. In addition to that most of there melted, exactly like moose, definitely drinkable.

After an experience like this you will not be recieving any more bookings from us or our group of 10

From the manager: Hi Matt,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback — we're really sorry to hear your stay didn't meet expectations, as this isn't the experience we want any of our guests to have.

We take on board your comments about the toilet block location and will look at how we can better manage the walking distance for tent pitches going forward. The blocks were built before the current team joined, but that's something we can try and bear in mind with future development and improvements - thank you for letting us know. We're also sorry to hear about the shower temperature — we'll get this checked.

We're very sorry to hear about the difficulties your father experienced. Accessibility is something we take seriously, and we'd always encourage guests to get in touch with us ahead of their stay to talk through any specific requirements — this means we can give an honest, informed answer about whether the site and facilities would be suitable, and make sure the right arrangements are in place in advance.

Regarding the bar and ice creams, we experienced exceptionally high temperatures during your stay which put a real strain on our freezers, and we're sorry this affected the quality of what was on offer.

We appreciate all of this feedback and are using it to make improvements. Thank you again, and we're sorry we didn't get the chance to put things right during your stay.

Warm regards,
The Meadow View Country Park Team

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Quite. Near Wimbourn. Very clean facilitys
Relaxed attitude

Disliked Poor fields for tent camping. Shop only open for short periods. No personal of site contact on site

From the manager: Hi there,

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay, and we're glad you enjoyed the peace and quiet, our location near Wimborne, and found the facilities clean and our team relaxed and welcoming.

Sorry to hear the tent pitch wasn't quite right for you. The field does have a gentle slope rather than being flat, though we wouldn't describe it as a hill — we do try to keep guests informed of this when booking a non-electric grass pitch, but we're sorry this wasn't clear enough in your case. We'll take another look at how we communicate this. We've also noted your comments about the shop hours and on-site contact, and will look at how we can improve availability there.

Thanks again for your feedback — we hope we might have the chance to welcome you back in the future.

Liked Brilliant set up - lovely tent and everything you’d need inside. Quiet site and lots of open space for kids to play and a play area that kept them busy for a little while. Great new toilets and showers that were cleaned regularly. Thanks for a lovely few days! Enjoyed a trip to Moors Valley on the way home.

Lovely to hear the new toilets and showers went down well too — we work hard to keep them spotless, so it's great that showed.

Thank you for choosing us for a few days of your trip, and we hope you had a great time at Moors Valley on the way home! We'd love to welcome you and the family back again soon.

Liked Great having a fridge and microwave. Shower and toilet block was short walk from the pod and was cleaned daily.

Disliked Could have done with a black out roller blind for the door since it gets so bright early in the morning.

Liked Stayed here for 2 nights Sunday to Tuesday to go to Paultons Park with our 3 children. The safari tent was lovely, very well equipped with crockery, utensils and a fridge.
The space and peaceful sight allowed our children to roam free feeding the goats, the lady looking after them was so friendly and chatty.
The toilet and shower blocks were very clean

Beech 2 bedroom safari tent (five person)

Liked Amazing safari tent experience! Comfy beds, fresh linen, plenty of space, all you need is there. Decking is nice and spacey, plenty of pillows to cuddle, good big stable dinning table. Bbq available. Communal fire pit available. Good WiFi, bar on site is nice, have local sliders and ales, little onside shop. Really liked location and tent itself, will back soon

Disliked Shower and toilets used by everyone not only glamping as it states, as no control on it. Which is make many people waiting, run out of hot water and toilet paper. Also lock in one shower broken- some hook been screwed in to help but it doesn’t work. Outside sofa has very big gaps on, was putting all pillows around for our baby not to fall through.
