Sunny day on site

  • Peaceful, family-friendly coastal location on a working alpaca farm
  • Bournemouth and the New Forest within 20 minutes' drive
  • Two minutes' walk from the River Stour and five from shops and pubs
Set on a working alpaca farm in the Dorset countryside, Snooks Farm Alpacas is a splendid spot for the whole family, just three miles from Ferndown and two minutes' walk away from the River Stour. The free-range sheep and roaming goats should keep the kids entertained for hours – and there are also free-range duck and chicken eggs for sale here too. There are plenty of nearby attractions for a week of adventure. You can spend the day exploring the seaside resort of Bournemouth or take in the spectacular views of the New Forest; both within 20 minutes' drive. A skiing and snowboarding activity centre is only 10 minutes away, and Bournemouth airport is close by too (making this a handy pre-flight stay or base for the popular airshow). For food and drinks, the shops and pubs of West Parley are a five-minute walk away and barbecues are permitted on site. Dogs are not allowed on site.

What customers say

This rustic, back-to-basics campground is lauded for its friendly owners and charming free-roaming animals like alpacas. Guests enjoy the peaceful, spacious setting. Facilities are basic (clean restrooms, no showers). Proximity to the airport means occasional plane noise. Some find tidying needed, others like the working farm vibe.

Liked The alpacas

Disliked Not being able to return to your pitch after 10 pm in a camper van means quite confined. The really bad loud karaoke coming from one of the permanent residents

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: We try not to allow driving in the field after 10pm so vehicle lights don't disturb other campers / children from sleeping, but we do try and accommodate late events, we also need sleep!!
The gate is shut to stop travelers that have not booked from arriving.
We stay / sleep in the same field incase of any issues and have herd nothing about karaoke ??

Primitive grass RV campsite

Liked The closimity to the alpacas.

Disliked The trailer of rubbish in the field that smelt so bad in the heat and the amount of flies around it. Multiple bites on all our skin from insects during the night. Toilets but no showers. (Didn’t see any info on this before booking). Children being told to be quiet from tenant that I assume lives in the field.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Pitchup clearly states we have toilets but no showers.
Nothing has ever been mentioned regarding children being asked to be quite, if this was the case then speaking to me to sort it out would of been the better option.

Regarding the rubbish we have this taken away regularly but if it was a problem you had a 2acre field to move freely around. There was 5 pitches taken, you had the whole paddock to move around as we don't allocate spaces!

Bring earplugs, and washing options.

Primitive grass RV campsite

Liked Alpacas running loose around the site 😃

Disliked Didn’t tell us the site is at the takeoff end of Bournemouth Airport. Very noisy ☹️
Toilets basically OK but just tiny dribbles of water in the sinks ☹️

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your stay at our farm, it is clearly stated in Pitchup that we are close the the airport ideal for the air show and pre-flight stays. Please read the information before booking and giving bad reviews.
