If your destination is Dorset-based, farm yourself out to the friendly folk at St Leonards Farm Caravan & Camping Park. Just a 20-minute drive from the centre of Bournemouth, half an hour from Poole and 15 minutes from the New Forest National Park, it should make an excellent base to get out and explore from. This is a place that has sparkling clean loos, toasty hot water for showers and washing up, and well-marked-out pitches – clearly the owners know what guests want. Canine campers are also welcome too. If you want to sizzle your own sausages, saving one for the dog, you can exchange gas cylinders on site. There are two major supermarkets within five minutes’ drive, two pubs within a mile and a number of nearby restaurants if you’re feeling lazy/thirsty. St Leonards Farm Caravan & Camping Park is a sociable but quiet site and has a 'no noise after 11pm' policy – most welcome if you’re getting up at the crack of dawn for some seaside exploring. The security gates are locked at night for safety and security; there's overnight parking outside of the security gates if you need it, so check at reception to find out the exact times the gates are opened and closed.

Shepherd's hut

Liked Fun and friendly place. Well organised with layout etc we will definitely be back our hut was

Disliked Washroom facilities would be awesome if modernised but they were certainly clean and functional.

Liked Easy access to the site, well waymarked and close to the main road.

Disliked Rather untidy site, needed grass and hedges tending to. No lights at night, which suits some people, just make sure you have a torch for getting around in the evening.

From the manager: Thank you for your review and glad you liked our access. We are a little confused as to your other comments regarding hedges and site condition as we have recently been cutting all the hedges as we do on a regular basis throughout the season. There are lights around the park as well although not too many and to be fair less light pollution on a countryside park is a good thing. Most campers take a torch with them anyway.

Liked The staff are helpful and friendly. Site is very clean and the flower arrangement is very nice when you enter the site. The showers and toilets are very clean and the water temperature is just right for the time of year. The hard standing are very flat which is good. Will keep coming back.

Powered grass campsite

Liked This has to be the best campsite we have ever stayed at.
So accodating of my daughter whom has severe disablities and in a wheelchair.
They made sure we were next to the disabled toilet and shower.
Very friendly Kaz and Katie were on point with their customer service.
The park on site is awesome.
The pitch size is also awesome.
The on site playbarn although was for little ones they allowed my daughter to play in there it was so lovely to see her replaying her childhood.
The farm animals are so cute.
We will 100% be back.

Liked When we were there it was very quiet not many others there. The staff were great and really friendly.

Disliked You could hear the cars on the main road but after a while kind of got use to it. At night it was quite.
