  • Small family-run park five minutes' drive from Looe
  • Monkey sanctuary within walking distance; Eden Project 30 mins' drive
  • Bring binoculars, buckets and spades and barbecues
Bring binoculars, bring buckets and spades, bring barbecues… they’ll all come in mighty handy during a stay at The Oaks Holiday Park, a relaxed rural site five minutes’ drive from Looe. Those binoculars are to help you get a closer look at the wildlife that often passes by this corner of Cornwall – sparrowhawks, kestrels and barn owls can often be spotted flying over the park and the adjacent Duchy woodland. You may see a deer or two in the fields surrounding the site too. The bucket and spade are essential items for an outing to the beach – Looe has a fine sandy specimen to play on, and there are plenty of other options along the Cornish coast (or back over the border into Devon). Not in the mood for sands? This part of Cornwall’s stacked with stuff to do, including the Wild Futures monkey sanctuary a short walk away and the famed Eden Project half an hour by car. And the barbecue? Well, clearly that’s for cooking up tasty dinners out in the fresh air – you’re most welcome to do so on site, and with luck you may be treated to one of the spectacular sunsets that often grace the sky around here. (The sunrises are also renowned to be equally pretty, if you’re into the early shift).

What customers say

This peaceful, well-kept campsite has spacious, level sites and great country views, a short drive from Looe. Guests rave about the spotless facilities, especially showers, and the friendly staff. Pods/caravans are well-equipped. Wi-Fi can be spotty, and access roads are narrow. Highly recommended for a tranquil, great-value stay.

1 bedroom camping pod (no pets, deluxe)

Liked Wonderful pod, clean and comfortable, beautiful views. Very peaceful and quiet , but only a 10 min drive into Looe . We stayed 2 nights and will definitely return!

Disliked Nothing to dislike, though we were a little disappointed not to have met our hosts!

FHU grass and gravel travel trailer campsite (large)

Liked Toilets/Showers nice and clean.
Lovely dog friendly pub close by (5 minutes drive) which did lovely food.

Disliked The approach to the site is down a mile long single track road with tight passing places, very challenging when towing a caravan.

The gravel pitch edging was a little overgrown, not great when everything's wet.

Willow 2 bedroom mobile home

Liked We loved everything about the site and the owners. It’s tucked out of the way, up a country road, but it is only about 4 miles from Looe. If you go the other way out of the park (away from Looe), you come down to the most beautiful (dog friendly beach) complete with life guards etc.
The owners are so nice and although not always around, they are to hand if needed.
It’s so quiet at night (and by day to be fair), you can hear the birds singing etc.
We were a family of 2 adults in 60’s and 1 in her mid 80’s. It was fantastic and everything was there to hand if needed but not in your face if not needed.
Loved it and this is our second 2 week stay in conservative years.
Many thanks to Olive, Louise and the gang for a wonderful couple of weeks

Liked Quietness. Simplicity. Everything. Site is calm and allows you to unwind even if the weather is poor. Lots to do around you and Looe is not far away. New shower and toilet blocks under construction will add more great facilities

1 bedroom camping pod (pet friendly, deluxe)

Liked The camping cabin was spotless and equipped with everything you could possibly need. As a welcome gesture, the owners left us some sweet buns, sugar, tea, milk, and butter, which was a lovely touch.
The bedding was fresh and fragrant, and both the shower and toilet were sparkling clean. The cabin had absolutely everything necessary for a comfortable stay – from pots and plates to mugs and wine glasses. There was not a single thing that disappointed me or that I didn't like. I sincerely recommend this place!

Powered gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked This is a beautiful and secluded little site with space for about 12 touring vehicles on well laid out pitches. We found it to be quiet and peaceful, and perfectly situated for visits around the surrounding area.

The toilets/showers were perfectly clean. Fresh water taps are accessible at the pitch, and WiFi is provided.

Local attractions

Start your stay with a wander around Looe, taking in the harbour and unusual banjo pier before settling on the sands for the day. The South West Coast Path runs through the town for folk in search of a ramble with a sea view, and the harbour’s full of boats to book for fishing trips to hook mackerel for the barbie, or to see what critters are swimming below. If you’d like to see more underwater beasts, there are many in residence at Fowey Aquarium (40 minutes). For landlubbing creatures, it’s a leisurely 15-minute stroll to meet the monkeys at Wild Futures Sanctuary or a 25-minute drive to view an assortment of animals at Porfell Wildlife Park & Sanctuary. The famed domes of the Eden Project (half an hour) are famed for a reason – a visit here makes a fab day out wandering among all manner of weird and wonderful plants from across the planet. Green-fingered folk might also like to check out the 200-acre Lost Gardens of Heligan (not actually lost, but off the B3273 50 minutes away).
