  • Cornwall caravan site on a working farm 10 minutes’ drive from Helston
  • A 10-minute drive from Gunwalloe Church Cove beach and Dollar Cove
  • Dog-friendly grass pitches; pubs and shops within 10 minutes’ drive
Always on the lookout for a quiet corner of Cornwall in which to lay your head? One that’s close to beaches, theme parks and woodland walks as well? Peaceful Gunwalloe Caravan Park may suit you very well, set as it is on a working arable farm less than 10 minutes’ drive from Gunwalloe Church Cove Beach and forest trails at National Trust-owned Penrose. With easy access to tree-sheltered grass pitches along hardstanding tracks, this is a no-frills site, owned and run by a family for families. Pets are welcome to tag along too, and there’s plenty of dog walking to be had along forested trails and shingle banks around The Loe freshwater lake and Carminowe Creek (10 minutes’ drive). Head to Gunwalloe village for a night out in the well-known Halzephron Inn (five minutes’ drive or half an hour’s walk), or try out waterfront pubs and takeaways around the fishing harbour in Porthleven (15 minutes’ drive). If you’re running short on provisions, historic Helston (10 minutes) has supermarkets for stocking up as well as pasty shops, pizzerias and burger bars if you’d like to give cooking a miss.

Liked Lovely small site, with everything you could possibly need. Cute small shop onsite with coffees and cakes. I saw a few reviews in regards to the showers being annoying because of the push to start and not lasting long but this really isn’t an issue at all, it takes literally a push to come back on, it’s hardly much effort. They’re nice and warm and do their job just fine. All other amenities are within a 10min drive (if that), beautiful beaches/harbours all a short drive away too. Can’t wait to return.

Disliked Nothing to dislike.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Lovely campsite with a friendly, helpful and welcoming owners/staff.

The site is very well kept, nice layout and very peaceful. Short drive to Church Cove beach.

Little shop selling the essentials is most useful.

The toilets and shower block was impeccably clean and modern, fantastic showers, we've been to hotels that wouldn't rival these facilities!

Loved being able to have a barbecue and fire pit next to the campervan.

Even though we only live half an hour away, it was lovely to have a couple of relaxing evenings away from home.

Disliked Nothing.

Liked Stayed here 4 nights, I. Amped and book a pitch with power. The campsite is in a great location 3 beaches within couple of miles.
The facilities were first class, great showers and loo’s, separate pot was area with lovely hot water.
The owner was very accommodating, lots of local knowledge, especially when it comes to choosing a beach. She makes a great cappuccino, bakes pastries too, what more could you want, apart from those last minute items that you might have forgotten to pack!!
Overall a great stay the pick was very roomy, nice and flat too.

Disliked WiFi could be have a stronger reach for where I was located, but I would think 70% of guests would have had great WiFi. Bit unlucky with the weather!! Just my luck!

Liked Clean friendly and plenty of space without being a big open field.
Secure dog exercise field was a great touch.

Disliked Shower push buttons are only about 10 seconds, a bit annoying having to keep pushing them

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Family run business if i do not mistake, small, peaceful, good showers, clean toilets, nice beautiful respectful people, great prices for logs and barbecue or firepits (do not do mistake to buy from somewhere else as i did ... without asking first), great coffee. Location is great for Kynance Cove and other places. Thank you.

Local attractions

When you fancy a serious yomp along the dramatic coastline, follow the South West Coast Path (10 minutes’ drive) to Kynance Cove (around three hours’ walk) on the Lizard Peninsula. Shorter hops include a shoreline walk to Porthleven (90 minutes), and strolls around the headland at Poldhu Cove (20 minutes). Walk or boat across to the ancient St Michael's Mount (half an hour) to look out for the giant's heart stone. For other family days out, consider a visit to the Cornish Seal Sanctuary (10 minutes) to join sea lion feeding sessions and watch seals and puffins in their watery enclosures, or take intrepid kids to Via Ferrata Cornwall (20 minutes) for climbing, ziplining, watersports and other adventures. History lovers might care to head for the harbourside National Maritime Museum Cornwall (35 minutes) in Falmouth to tour historic steamboats and let the kids loose on interactive, pirate-themed exhibits. When the weather is warm and you’d prefer to be outdoors, have a wander through the subtropical plantings and water features at dog-friendly Trebah Garden (half an hour).
