Primitive grass campsite

Liked Everything.
The pitches are generously spacious with plenty of room for even the largest tents, level and well maintained. There's a choice of pitches with or without hedges to allow for privacy and shelter from the winds (they're pretty high up), far enough away from the main road for the traffic noise to be minimal and reasonably close to Bodmin or St Austal for food shopping.
The showers are very spacious, none of the usual three ft square cubicle to clash your elbows with plenty of hot water and a good flow of it too. Toilets are spotless and in keeping with the high standards of maintenance throughout the entire site.
If you're camping in the meadow, be advised it's quite exposed to the South Westerly winds, but the views are amazing!
A great campsite, easy to find and geographically nice and central for exploring all that Cornwall has to offer.

Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked The location is great as was quite central for us and easy to get to. The campsite was really tranquil and peaceful which is just what we were after.

The facilities were all really clean and the showers were spacious and really hot.

Disliked The toilets appeared to lack some flushing power so regularly needed multiple attempts but it wasn't a huge issue as other campers were also ensuring the toilets were being left clean for the next user. Could be unsightly in busier periods if guests are not so conscious of others.

From the manager: Hi there - thank you very much for your lovely review. My apologies for the issues you experienced with the loos. We have water-saving devices on the loos which may mean they're not quite as strong as perhaps most people are used to. They are checked regularly though and even more so when we're busy to ensure they're always clean for our guests. Hope to see you again another time. With kind regards, Ali & Neil

Winter powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Privacy on our pitch and really quiet.

Disliked Only one shower open.
Communal showers and toilets.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hi Mark - thank you for your kind review. Apologies for the limited shower availability but as we explained on your arrival, we’ve had a huge water leak which means we’re having to refurbish our facilities. I’m afraid that winter is the only time we can undertake this work. We do advertise that our facilities are unisex - we appreciate this isn’t to everyone’s liking, but all the cubicles are fully secure and private, and it works much better for families at bath-time. We’re glad to hear that you’re planning to visit us again, and we’ll look forward to welcoming you back. With kindest regards, Ali & Neil

Local attractions

As well as the Eden Project, you may care to take a look at another top Cornwall attraction within five miles, the National Trust-managed Lanhydrock estate with its swish Victorian mansion and acres of green gardens. Within the same distance is Camel Valley Vineyard, Cornwall's biggest – yes, they do tours and yes, there is a shop. If you've brought your bike along with you, pedal the six miles or so to the Forestry Commission's Cardinham Woods for bike and mountain bike rides among the trees; bike hire is available at the centre here if you're arriving by foot or car. Get in the car or hail the local bus for your other excellent options around here, such as a potter and a seafood sample at the handsome little fishing village of Fowey, the Lost Gardens of Heligan or ziplining at Adrenaline Quarry – all within 30 to 35 minutes' drive.
