Mena Farm: Spacious pitches with screening for privacy

General

  • Quiet and friendly family site on a farm four miles from Bodmin
  • Five miles from the Eden Project and 30 minutes' drive from the coast
  • Within easy reach of the Camel Trail cycle route and other bike paths

No bright lights, no noisy clubhouse and no rigid rules… just peace, quiet and a mightily friendly vibe in a stargazing and cycling haven close to Bodmin and the Eden Project – sound just splendid? Then pitch yourself up at Mena Farm.

Run by Ali and Neil, Mena is a family-friendly farm site in central Cornwall, five miles from Bodmin and the Eden Project and eight from St Austell. This is cracking cycling country, with several bike routes running from or near the site and the 18 scenic miles of the family-friendly Camel Trail reachable at Bodmin. Going beachwards, Fowey on the south coast and Newquay on the north are both within half an hour's drive.

For days on site, ramble your way over to the wilder corners of Mena for den building and wildlife spotting (species to spy include badgers, rabbits, deer and buzzards), or trundle along to meet the pigs and chickens; egg collecting assistance is most welcome. By night, the combo of clear skies and lack of blazing lights on the park means there's some stellar stargazing to be had. Barbecues and campfires are – of course – allowed at this laidback place, so you can add sausages (and cider?) to your astronomical exploits.

Ali and Neil have added a play area and a barn with games, books and a TV to further aid idling, and the mini market sells a good range of essentials to sort supplies without stirring from the grounds; you can also – how fab – get fish and chips delivered right to your pitch.

AA 4 pennants

Please note

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

No naked flames are allowed inside the hired accommodation units.

At least one of the party members must be aged 21 or over.

Group bookings of 4 or more adults are not permitted (couples and immediate family members excepted).

Everything! We went their first weekend open so was quiet and very wet but the owners were so welcoming and friendly.
Beautifully clean site, massive pitches, spotless toilets/showers, large family/disabled shower cubical, large washing up and laundry area, a games room which was an added bonus due to the weather.
Will definitely be going again and might even treat ourselves to a stay in one of their teepee s (which we had a little nose at when there 🫢).
They even offer a fish and chip delivery to your pitch on certain days

    Disliked:

Not really a dislike but personally I'd like the showers a little warmer but that wouldn't stop me going again

From the manager...

Hi Kim - thank you very much for taking the time to leave us such a lovely review. It was an absolute pleasure to meet you all and happy to hear we'll be seeing you again. Just a note re the showers, we could have easily adjusted them if you'd mentioned this was an issue during your stay. They are set at a specific temperature which is normally fine, but given the weather at the time, may have felt a little chilly. Hopefully it will be warmer next time we see you! Thanks again and all best, Ali & Neil

Hi Kate - the best feedback we can get is for campers to return, so it was a real bonus that you returned so quickly and for a longer stay this time. Thank you! We love seeing the same faces, and hope it's not too long until we see yours again. Take care in the meantime and all the very best, Ali & Neil

Bit picky but shame they had run out of hard standing pitches. It wouldn't have mattered at all if weather wasn't so wet.

From the manager...

Hi there - thank you for your kind review. Yes, you only booked a couple of days in advance of arrival, but I'm afraid that our hard-standing pitches are booked up months in advance over the Christmas period. We're glad to hear you enjoyed your stay regardless and hope to see you again another time. With kind regards, Ali & Neil
