  • Quiet glamping site surrounded by orchards in the Kent countryside
  • A 15-minute drive to Betteshanger Park and 25 minutes to Canterbury
  • Dog-friendly site; 20 minutes' walk from the local village shops
Time to kick back in Kent… With a quiet, tidy site with no electric but flushing toilets, hot showers and washing-up facilities as your base, you’ll be well situated for rambles in the Kent countryside, living it up on the coast and visiting various fishing spots on the sea, river or lake. Glamping in Kent really is a rather stunning Kent spot, spread across seven and a half acres and surrounded by countryside and apple and pear orchards. Aching for an active break? Good job this site is just 15 minutes’ drive away from Betteshanger Park, where there’s cycle hire, walking routes, a play area and a mining museum. There’s also a water park just five minutes’ drive away. As for those intending to be as lazy as possible, simply settle in and watch the wildlife (rabbits and bird species galore) in the orchards. The site is divided up by mature trees and hedging with many native plants and a stream running across the bottom of the site. In an excellent extra touch, the site is also within walking distance of a vineyard (via public footpaths taking around 20 minutes) where you can sip on local wine, and there are lots of splendid spots for picnicking and wildlife watching along public footpaths through the countryside around the site. That’s any dog walks sorted for you too – the site accepts one small dog per pitch for an additional cost. Whenever you feel like a sweet treat (an ice cream perhaps?), the local village is a short 20-minute walk through the apple orchards and has a few small local shops. Clean, fresh and comfy is the stay they’ve crafted at the family-friendly Glamping in Kent. So, whether you’re stopping off for a short time before heading into Europe or plotting out a whole route around Kent’s historical sites and beaches, it’s all sweet. There’s also a selection of local PGA-accredited golf courses within a short drive of the site.

Emperor bell tent

Liked: We loved the surrounds and views of the site. It was everything we hoped for. We only booked it the night before for a quick 1 night break. The accommodation had everything we needed.. made a great change to pitching our tent. The toilet/wash and shower facilities were spotless. You can tell that a lot of care goes into running this site. I liked the spacing between pitches, it provided a good area for each pitch. The hosts were very friendly, helpful and visible. Have already recommended it to friends. Keep up the great work 👍

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked: This new campsite is excellent and just as described on the website. It is a quiet site so not one for party animals- but great if you enjoy a peaceful setting. Pitch spaces are generous and it is ok to put up a gazebo or awning up for shelter. The facilities are great, including hot showers and washing up sinks with hot water. The owners came every day to thoroughly clean and check everything was in order. They are an approachable couple who had great tips on local places to visit, including Saint Margaret at Cliffe with it's cliff top lighthouse walk. The site is well placed for many local attractions, including: wildlife parks, beaches and footpath walks. We can highly recommend the site and it is good value. Get there before everyone finds out about it!

Emperor bell tent

Liked: The site was lovely and clean and we were made to feel very welcome. The glamping tent was well stocked and the double bed and mattresses were great.

Disliked: The blow up bed was as usual freezing cold, I ended up on it as my 10 year old got too cold so unfortunately I didn’t sleep for two days. Would be better if proper mattresses were provided for all guests. Also might be a good idea to reiterate the no music rule to all the guest as the tent next to us didn’t get that. The tent opposite was a group of 6 guys who also kept us awake till 2am and probably the whole campsite with their shouting and swearing and extremely loud conversation. Also no where to keep freezer blocks cold or fridge facilities. Would be an improvement I would make.

Bell tent

Liked: Exactly what we had hoped for! This glamping site has lovely views, clean facilities with a few extras to the norm and pretty, comfy, well equipped glamping tents. It’s in a great location too with an easy walk to local pubs and shops and a short drive to fab beaches and towns. The owners are soo lovely as well. Perfect when you just want to rock up and camp without having to bring all the ‘stuff’. Would definitely recommend!

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Everything at the site was exactly as it was described online, it wasn't immaculate etc but it was perfect. Definitely take a torch, and the grass was left long which is so comfy but very dewy in the mornings so flip flops or wellies required Loved the toilet block, rustic but everything you needed Great food recommendations from the owners

Local attractions

Any takers for a zoo day? At Wingham Wildlife Park (five minutes’ drive), there are tiger experiences and penguin-feeding experiences for the brave sorts. Howletts Wild Animal Park (15 minutes) has over 390 creatures too: anteaters, African elephants and gorillas, to name but a few. There’s a few historic towns around, if you didn’t know… medieval Sandwich (10 minutes) and the former fishing and mining town of Deal (20 minutes) are a couple of favourite spots. Beach, pier, museum or theatre… there’s plenty for all sorts of days out in Deal. Canterbury (25 minutes) must, of course, get a mention. The UNESCO World Heritage Site is packed with historical sites, such as the cathedral dating from 597 AD, Roman walls, the simply gorgeous Westgate Gardens and the ruins of St. Augustine’s Abbey.
