What customers say
A solid, no-frills campsite loved for its prime spot & helpful owner, Tim. Guests rave about clean portaloos, water, dish sinks, spacious field & free fire pits/toys. Ideal for quick trips near the lakes. Some report weekend noise & no showers (as listed).

Primitive grass and earth RV campsite
Liked Friendly welcome. All we needed from a basic site (clean loos, water and plenty of space). A short walk to the local pub which was also welcoming. Entertainment provided by the lambs in the neighbouring field!

Well positioned and easy to get to
Primitive grass and earth RV campsite
Liked Nice, relaxed site with early access. Very easy to find and great enveloping views surrounding you. I had been over Hard Knott pass and down to Ulverston that morning and it made for a great spot in a decent area. Quiet overnight and slept right through.
Disliked Nope all good

Nice back to basic campsite with amazing views of the old man
Primitive grass and earth RV campsite
Liked There was plenty of space, the owner was great checking us in and offering us wood for the fire. There are fire pits there to use which is handy, the views are spectacular and it's just down the road from coniston water, we will be back making sure we pack our paddle board.
Disliked It would be nice to have an outside tap not just the pot was space to fill water tankers up. It's quite a slow for a larger water carrier.
No option for a single person, costs the same for 1 person as it did for 4

Clean facilities, helpful owner. Not crowded, camp wherever you want!
Primitive grass and earth tent campsite
Liked The campsite is very clean and was spaced out lovely. It didn’t feel cramped and crowded, even on the bank holiday! You can camp wherever in the field and there’s a family field separate to the groups field which is great for younger people. Tim is a great help and replies very quickly when you need anything. It’s very close to water and also pubs so you can walk to nearby things. Also bike hires nearby which was fab. The toilets were very clean and were seen to every morning! I highly recommend taking a walk to the Royal Oak pub nearby, the food was amazing. Personally avoid the Farmers Arms food as this was really disappointing.
