With one heck of a location amid spectacular mountain and fell views, Lowick Bridge Campsite is close to both Coniston Water and Windermere. This back-to-basics pop-up site makes a splendid base for outdoorsy types keen to get onto cycling tracks, up mountains or out on the water as soon as possible. It’s also a handy stopover for long-distance hikers; footpaths are accessible directly from the pitches, and the Cumbria Way starts in Ulverston (15 minutes’ drive). There’s a lot for families to do too, with a steam railway and boat cruises less than half an hour away. If you’re after a lazy day doing nothing much except admiring those views, there’s plenty of space around the pitches for dogs (please keep them on a lead) and kids to roam safely. With a fence and hedge encircling the site, no-one can stray too far – the River Crake runs nearby, but there’s no direct access.
 The nearest pub has a beer garden and is five minutes’ walk away in Lowick Bridge. A 17th-century pub serves real ales in Lowick Green (20 minutes on foot), and you can get pub grub and Sunday roasts in Spark Bridge, less than five minutes’ drive away. Riverside Greenodd (10 minutes’ drive) has a butcher’s, a fish and chip shop and a bakery serving takeout pizza.  When you fancy a barbecue, firepits can be hired from the site on a first-come, first-served basis and bundles of firewood are also for sale.

Deze eenvoudige camping heeft een geweldige locatie om de Meren te verkennen, met de vriendelijke en behulpzame eigenaar Tim. Bezoekers prijzen consequent de brandschone portapotties en afwasfaciliteiten. Het ruime veld biedt volop plek. Let op: weekenden kunnen rumoerig zijn. Geen douches.

Ik was blij met The location was easy to get to, had a nice view, facilities were decent. I would use again.

Ik was niet blij met Noise. Somebody cutting something in distance kept us up at 2am then early in morning had a quad bike on field next to us revving.

Ik was niet blij met fairly basic, could have done with a bit of fencing/trees to divide it up a bit,

had issues with our neighbours drinking, playing music and talking loudly till 2am, fairly typical of any campsite though, not the site's fault

Ik was blij met As described pop up campsite! Owner was very polite and came over when we arrived to check everything was ok.

We had a lovely stay and were the only ones as we stayed on a Sunday!
Free fire pits, drinking water, water station and sink for dishes and clean portaloos everything you need! There was evening a box of outdoor games, eg cricket, footballs...
Weather wasn't the best the night we stayed but we woke up to the most beautiful views!!
There is a pub within a 6 minute walk that does lovely food!

Short drive into the town, I would highly recommend walking up to Sir John Barrow monument and our main visit was for Old Man of Coniston ( if you're able, definitely do this hike)

Ik was niet blij met Not a dislike but the sign for the field is quite small, I did drive past it but just be more aware than me :)

Ik was blij met The campsite, the location.

Ik was niet blij met The only disappointment was the group of lads who pitched their tent right next to ours and then proceeded to play loud music and have their car engines running from around 10pm to 2am. Not the campsites fault but it did mean a night of no sleep....

Ik was blij met Great value with views and excellent location for exploring the lakes.
Open field to setup where ever you want. Free fire pit and toilets were portable toilets that worried us but the owner visited every couple of hours to keep immaculate. Any road noise subsided early on to make it nice and peaceful.
A great site.

Ik was blij met Immaculately clean toilets & washing up area. Clearly labelled drinking water. Easy to pitch tents (not rock underneath a thin layer of grass like some Lake District sites). Excellent and helpful communication from the owners.

We loved it but this is a basic site - clean toilets, sink for washing up drinking water & that's it. Perfect for what we needed!

Lokale bezienswaardigheden

Walkers and climbers can make a beeline for the slopes of The Old Man of Coniston (20 minutes’ drive) to see the 17th-century mines or take the circular route to the summit for views over Coniston Water. It’s an easy stroll suitable for families up a stone track to remote Swinside Stone Circle from the car park (25 minutes) – once there you have stunning views over the fells. Arnside and Silverdale National Landscape (40 minutes) is a scenic spot for cycle rides and dips in the sea on warmer days. Coniston Water (10 minutes) is a hub for watersports from dinghy sailing to kayaking and paddleboarding; you can hire all the gear at the Water Park Lakeland Adventure Centre (also 10 minutes). If all that sounds too much like hard work, chug through lakeland countryside aboard the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway (10 minutes), or jump aboard the National Trust - Steam Yacht Gondola (20 minutes) for gentle cruises around Coniston Water. Another local National Trust attraction is Fell Foot (15 minutes), where you can take out rowing boats to explore Windermere or safely let the kids loose at the playground.
