What customers say

Lovely, quiet spot with great amenities like clean restrooms, a tasty bakery, and a welcoming pub. Easy access to walks, including Lowther Castle. Friendly staff. Some found facilities dated/could use more cleaning, and pitches a bit tight.

Liked Quiet, flat pitches in the centre of a well maintained static caravan park. Great location on the banks of the river Lowther. 2 accessible shower blocks with modern facilities. Bakery and pub on site. WiFi only available in pub.

Powered grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked The site was nice, clean and quiet, situated in a beautiful location with gorgeous walks on its doorsteps. Lovely friendly staff too. Red squirrels running around, super cute!

Disliked Toilet block was so old and not very nice, clean but musky smelling, the original 80s look and feel, also took literally ages for the hot water to come on.

Liked An impressive and grand tree-lined drive up to the holiday park with fantastic scenery and a stunning bridge. The site was tidy and well maintained, and we were warmly welcomed.. Pleasant walks along the Lowther River nearby. A large holiday park with a modest sized area for motorhomes and caravans, and a separate grass area for tents. Only one toilet block was available at the time of our stay but it was clean and had plenty of hot water for showering, there was even a bath! The pub wasn't open on the day we were there, but apparently doesn't serve food any longer anyway, so no big loss .The bakery was basic, but useful.

Disliked Eight pounds for two small dogs seemed rather excessive. I think it's the first site we've stayed at where we've been charged to have our fur family with us. Trees overhang the motorhome and caravan touring area. It wasn't particularly windy while we were there but the roof was continually being hit by cones and other bits of tree and bird poo from the crows that seem to inhabit the area. It rained lightly in the night and raindrops from branches made sleeping a problem. It's also an area for the RAF to practice low flying, which was thrilling but also meant an unplanned early morning wake-up alarm. Trees overhanging the touring area means we would think twice about returning sadly..we can only imagine how much worse it would be on a windy and rainy night. It is a difficult balance to get right for the park owners but most pitches elsewhere would not have overhanging trees. It's a shame because we were stunned by the beauty of the area and impressed by the site. Maybe we'll stop by another time, but not when wind and rain is forecast..

Liked Lowther Holiday park holds special memories for both me and my husband and we couldn't wait to add to those memories with our 2 boys. The camping area is lovely. The pitch size is great and we had a great area of grass for the boys to run around. The toilets and shower are very clean and the distance to the toilets gave our 6 year old an excuse to ride a bike. We enjoyed picking some tasty treats from The Lakes Bakery and the playgrounds where appreciated too. The playground by the bar is most suited if you have toddlers. We enjoyed taking a stroll through the forest down to the tank bridge. Lots of new memories where made and we will definetly be back.

Disliked Although the bakery was lovely the shop part is poorly stocked and very overpriced.
This website claims that the site is a quiet site and doesn't allow music. On our last night there was quite a few arrivals. As the night went on they got louder and started to play music and had a microphone as well. We didn't know who to contact to help with this and unfortunately did dampen our experience a little bit. However we will be back.

Liked Really nice holiday park couldn't really fault anything, fantastic location, loads of to if you like walking and site seeing, so peaceful aswell

Disliked Shower facilities weren't the best quite old, my partner has a phobia of spiders and the showers was full of them due to open doors and windows, they was quite dated and didn't look like they were cleaned that often.

Local attractions

Set an early alarm, because you’ll want plenty of time to explore the Lake District’s second-largest lake. There’s a 20-mile path around Ullswater, which is accessible from Pooley Bridge (10 minutes’ drive). So, take it all in on foot, or opt for the boat hire and cruises if you’d like to cover as much ground (or rather, water) as possible in one go. Haweswater Reservoir (half an hour) isn’t as busy as Ullswater, making it a great pick for more peaceful days out hiking. Penrith (10 minutes) will pick up the pace once again; there’s the popular Beacon Hill hike for those not done with the outdoorsy adventures and a museum and 14th-century castle for those interested in a slice of history. As Lowther Holiday Park is so close to the A66 and the M6, it’s not so tricky to take a day trip to the Yorkshire Dales National Park (45 minutes), Hexham (an hour and 15 minutes) or Barnard Castle (an hour and five minutes) either.
