  • Quiet family-run site five minutes’ drive from Tattenhall in Cheshire
  • Shropshire Union Canal five minutes’ drive and Chester 20 minutes
  • Wildlife pond and walks on site; pubs and shops five minutes’ drive
Set in 20 rural acres on the Cheshire Plain and five minutes’ drive from the pretty village of Tattenhall, Manor Farm Caravan Park is a small family-owned site with pitches sheltered by high hedges and trees. It’s a peaceful spot that’s something of a wildlife haven; you might wake up to the chirping of birds and the sight of playful wild rabbits scuttling around the fields. Keep your eyes open at dusk to see if you can spot ducks and geese settling for the night around the ponds, or hedgehogs foraging for food. Tattenhall has its fair share of half-timbered cottages and indie shops, plus pubs, restaurants and takeaways if you’re wanting someone else to do the legwork as far as food is concerned. When you’re looking for outdoor adventures, head for Delamere Forest for walks and bike rides, while Chester (both 20 minutes’ drive) makes a great cultural day out. Facilities have been kept to a minimum so as not to disturb the wildlife, but all the pitches have an electric hook-up. There are also spotless showers with loads of hot water to go round, and a covered washing-up sink.

This new, well-kept site offers spacious, level pitches. Guests love the spotless facilities, friendly owners, and great value. The large dog field is a hit. It's peaceful, close to attractions, though a few note the limited number of toilets.

Fox powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Second visit to this site. A mix of hard standing and grass pitches. The pitch price is reasonable.for a rural site. Having said that, there is a bus service which passes the entrance which I presume goes into Chester (not used personally). There are plenty of walks.and it took us approximately 30 minutes to the ice cream farm,. The marina is directly opposite this. The village is also about 30 minutes walk from the site. Next door to the site is a new country store, with farm shop and cafe. The site is awaiting upgrades to electricity, some pitches are 10 amp, some are 6 amp. The toilet facilities are provided in a large shed like unit, and are adequate.
We only spoke to one warden, and she was very friendly and welcoming. The site has recently transitioned to adult only, but is honouring any existing bookings with children.

Disliked Traffic can be quite fast on the main road outside the site. Care is needed if walking along the road, and road noise is very noticeable if pitched along that boundary until night.

Fox powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Super friendly staff, the massive dog walking area is just perfect , good facilities block. Spacious pitches. Dark sky area so managed to see several shooting stars and satellites zooming over head. Flat 15 minutes walk to ice cream farm and Tattenhall hall marina. Bus stop nearby for Chester. Country store next door with excellent cafe.

Disliked Totally gutted that the site has now gone to adults only. We have stayed a few times but sadly we can't again now.

Rabbit primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Nice site, will clean toilets and proper showers (not the push button ones a lot of campsites have). It's conveniently on a bus route to Chester (the 41) and is walking distance to a small town with pubs, it's right next door to a large hardware store, a café and a farm shop. We will be staying here again!

Robin powered grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Quiet and small. Right next to a store, cafe and farm shop!

Disliked Wasn’t really a dislike but if it was busier the 2 toilets and 3 showers (ladies) would’ve been manic!

Local attractions

When it comes to keeping younger kids happy, they should be well pleased by a visit to The Ice Cream Farm (five minutes’ drive), where they can run riot on the play areas, join craft workshops and choose their favourite ice-cream flavours. Chester Zoo (15 minutes) is always a popular choice for the chance to see elephants, giraffes and rare rhinos. The handsome city of Chester (20 minutes) itself makes a great day out, thanks to rambles around its Roman/medieval walls. You can also join guided walks around The Rows, a series of half-timbered Tudor-era buildings, and climb the tower at the medieval cathedral. Closer to home, Tattenhall (five minutes) is a historic village with lots of black-and-white architecture to admire. If you’re keen to get out and about in the Cheshire countryside, head to Delamere Forest (20 minutes) and its labyrinth of walking, horse-riding and cycling trails. You can also enjoy family adventures along the Shropshire Union Canal (five minutes), join the Sandstone Trail for woodland jaunts or play a round of golf (both 10 minutes).
