  • Quiet family-run site five minutes’ drive from Tattenhall in Cheshire
  • Shropshire Union Canal five minutes’ drive and Chester 20 minutes
  • Wildlife pond and walks on site; pubs and shops five minutes’ drive
Set in 20 rural acres on the Cheshire Plain and five minutes’ drive from the pretty village of Tattenhall, Manor Farm Caravan Park is a small family-owned site with pitches sheltered by high hedges and trees. It’s a peaceful spot that’s something of a wildlife haven; you might wake up to the chirping of birds and the sight of playful wild rabbits scuttling around the fields. Keep your eyes open at dusk to see if you can spot ducks and geese settling for the night around the ponds, or hedgehogs foraging for food. Tattenhall has its fair share of half-timbered cottages and indie shops, plus pubs, restaurants and takeaways if you’re wanting someone else to do the legwork as far as food is concerned. When you’re looking for outdoor adventures, head for Delamere Forest for walks and bike rides, while Chester (both 20 minutes’ drive) makes a great cultural day out. Facilities have been kept to a minimum so as not to disturb the wildlife, but all the pitches have an electric hook-up. There are also spotless showers with loads of hot water to go round, and a covered washing-up sink.

Rabbit primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Spacious pitches with a beautiful tranquil surroundings. Lovely warm shower with great power in a warm shower block too. Friendly owners, cute little farm shop and great access to Chester Town or Liverpool.

Disliked Locks on shower and toilet door could do with repair.

Rabbit primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked A friendly and helpful welcome from managers/owners (not sure)
It was bank holiday weekend and we expected the site to be rammed but there was so much space between pitches.
We were fairly local as this was our first night away in a new van so hadn't ventured far, friends who are regular campers were passing on a bike ride so called in for a brew, they loved the site and said the toilets and showers were fabulous.
The farm shop next door had an excellent range of food and drinks and was very reasonably priced, think corner shop pricing for most things.

Disliked Nothing to dislike

Fox powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Spacious pitches, friendly staff, countryside location with a flat walk into Tattenhall, which has three pubs all dog friendly, a local shop, a cafe a brilliant play park by the school for younger children. This site has the best dog walking area by far. Toilet and shower block is good and clean. Can highly recommend this site. Ice-cream farm is a 20 minutes walk away, Tattenhall marina with a cracking cafe is also opposite the ice-cream farm and well worth a stroll along the canal. Added bonus is the new cambers country store and cafe adjacent to the site.

Fox powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Great price, lovely owners, good size pitches and a lovely big field for doggos with paths cut in as well as a farm shop, cafe and hardware store next door which was a nice surprise!

Overall it was great for a couple of nights and a great location

Disliked Toilet block felt small for the amount of people on site, I imaging in peak season it would be more of an issue, could do with a little tidy up around the window in the ladies.

Lock on the gate is a little bit of a pain if your going in and out a few times throughout the day but easy enough to do - a small pedestrian gate would be a great addition

Rabbit primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked A very kind welcome from the owners. Was given a choice of pitches with a lot of freedom. Good security, combination padlock on the main gate. Quite cheap, good value.

Disliked Couldn't adjust the temperature on shower, it was red hot. Only one male toilet for a fairly large site. Mould in showers. The facility block could do with an overhaul.

Liked It’s in a really good area and the managers are very helpful.

Disliked The toilet block could be doing with an upgrade, that’s why it only got 8 stars.

Local attractions

When it comes to keeping younger kids happy, they should be well pleased by a visit to The Ice Cream Farm (five minutes’ drive), where they can run riot on the play areas, join craft workshops and choose their favourite ice-cream flavours. Chester Zoo (15 minutes) is always a popular choice for the chance to see elephants, giraffes and rare rhinos. The handsome city of Chester (20 minutes) itself makes a great day out, thanks to rambles around its Roman/medieval walls. You can also join guided walks around The Rows, a series of half-timbered Tudor-era buildings, and climb the tower at the medieval cathedral. Closer to home, Tattenhall (five minutes) is a historic village with lots of black-and-white architecture to admire. If you’re keen to get out and about in the Cheshire countryside, head to Delamere Forest (20 minutes) and its labyrinth of walking, horse-riding and cycling trails. You can also enjoy family adventures along the Shropshire Union Canal (five minutes), join the Sandstone Trail for woodland jaunts or play a round of golf (both 10 minutes).
