  • Quiet family-run site five minutes’ drive from Tattenhall in Cheshire
  • Shropshire Union Canal five minutes’ drive and Chester 20 minutes
  • Wildlife pond and walks on site; pubs and shops five minutes’ drive
Set in 20 rural acres on the Cheshire Plain and five minutes’ drive from the pretty village of Tattenhall, Manor Farm Caravan Park is a small family-owned site with pitches sheltered by high hedges and trees. It’s a peaceful spot that’s something of a wildlife haven; you might wake up to the chirping of birds and the sight of playful wild rabbits scuttling around the fields. Keep your eyes open at dusk to see if you can spot ducks and geese settling for the night around the ponds, or hedgehogs foraging for food. Tattenhall has its fair share of half-timbered cottages and indie shops, plus pubs, restaurants and takeaways if you’re wanting someone else to do the legwork as far as food is concerned. When you’re looking for outdoor adventures, head for Delamere Forest for walks and bike rides, while Chester (both 20 minutes’ drive) makes a great cultural day out. Facilities have been kept to a minimum so as not to disturb the wildlife, but all the pitches have an electric hook-up. There are also spotless showers with loads of hot water to go round, and a covered washing-up sink.

What customers say

This is a quiet, well-kept site with spacious, level pitches and friendly, helpful owners. Facilities are clean and functional, with a large dog walking field being a highlight. A farm shop and cafe are next door. While some found the electric hook-up capacity limited and the toilet/shower block basic, many praised the excellent value and peaceful atmosphere, with numerous visitors saying they'd return.

Rabbit primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked We arrived at the site just before 8pm for a 1 night stay on our way through to Wales. The site owner was super friendly and got us set up really quickly. We were micro/car camping and this was quite welcome on the site (there were others there too). The facilities were minimal but more than sufficient and was as described on their page. There is a cafe and garden shop next door which looked lovely, although we didn’t eat there as we were in a rush to leave the next day! All in all, I would definitely recommend the site and I will definitely visit again ☺️

Robin powered grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Secure site with plenty of space to pitch. Access to drinking water, cleaning area and facilities. Central field in the middle was great for the kids to play in sight if us. Would have loved a little play area but certainly not essential.

Hawk powered cement/asphalt and grass RV campsite

Liked Very friendly, great location shower and toilet block well maintained and farm shop has some great items. Cafe was great with a fantastic full English breakfast. Keep the code sfor the gate and toilets/shower on you...or take picture and keep in your phone. Too many folk have moaned about the code but safety of site and contents is a small price to play for remembering the codes!. Highly recommend!

Robin powered grass travel trailer campsite

Liked All good. Arrived on a Sunday for one night stay on our way to Wales,so wasn't busy, Nice friendly welcome from the staff, very helpful, we had a grass pitch in the middle with electric. Toilets and showers fine ,There's a farm shop with cafe nextdoor. a nice walk across the fields to Tattenhall village, 25 minutes.

Disliked Although there was a key code lock on the main gates to the campsite, which was understandable, there was also an annoying one on the door to the toilet and shower block which tended to get stuck from time to time causing a bit of fuss.

Local attractions

When it comes to keeping younger kids happy, they should be well pleased by a visit to The Ice Cream Farm (five minutes’ drive), where they can run riot on the play areas, join craft workshops and choose their favourite ice-cream flavours. Chester Zoo (15 minutes) is always a popular choice for the chance to see elephants, giraffes and rare rhinos. The handsome city of Chester (20 minutes) itself makes a great day out, thanks to rambles around its Roman/medieval walls. You can also join guided walks around The Rows, a series of half-timbered Tudor-era buildings, and climb the tower at the medieval cathedral. Closer to home, Tattenhall (five minutes) is a historic village with lots of black-and-white architecture to admire. If you’re keen to get out and about in the Cheshire countryside, head to Delamere Forest (20 minutes) and its labyrinth of walking, horse-riding and cycling trails. You can also enjoy family adventures along the Shropshire Union Canal (five minutes), join the Sandstone Trail for woodland jaunts or play a round of golf (both 10 minutes).
