What customers say
A simple, quiet campsite appreciated for its open space and peace, ideal for self-sufficient campers. Good base for exploring North Norfolk. Pricing and portaloo cleanliness can be issues, though new showers were added in July 2026. Ants reported Aug 2026.

Disliked Woke up at 530am crows in the trees not the owners fault but would have had a better sleep over the other side of the field

Peaceful
Primitive grass tent or RV campsite
Liked Laid back, lovely setting, 2 freshly made showers which was a joy after a day at the beach. So peaceful i slept past my usual wake up time.
Disliked Only gripe was ants, lots of them, i re pitched my tent thinking i might have disturbed an ants nest but a fellow camper confirmed they are everywhere. Luckily my inner was firmly covered, so not an issue inside just made me feel itchy at the thought.

A good, basic rural site
Primitive grass tent or RV campsite
Liked This was a good site for me. I like basic, rural sites - not to everyone's tastes I'm sure but the peaceful site in the country was very much to my liking for one man and his dog in a VW campervan. Recent additions of showers, washing up facilities etc. very welcome. Mile and a half roadside walk into Stiffkey with the splendid Stores was appreciated.I hope to return to The Tented Turnip in the near future.
Disliked I heard about the site through Pitchup.com and so booked via them. I discovered from other caampers that it was less if I paid direct with the owners of the site, which is something I will consider in future.

Perfect spot for quiet, basic and totally off grid camping.
Primitive grass tent or RV campsite
Liked Lovely spot, great view. Big skies Very relaxing and chilled vibe.
We liked the sounds of neighbouring sheep and birds. No road noise - bliss.
Only a mile from Stiffkey and access to the Saltmarsh and coast path.
We just arrived and pitched. No fuss or having to check in and out, we didn't see anyone else.
Huge field as well so there's no need to be pitched on top of someone else. Great for family games if it's quiet.
Disliked The listing still says there's a shower. Please take that off as it's misleading.
The portaloos were in dire need of an empty - norfolk is on its fourth heatwave this summer. I'll let you imagine. Its fine if you're used to festivals! I'd try to plan your evacuations for elsewhere.
Not sure its quite fair to say a "sea view"- more rolling hills unless you pitch up next to the portaloo.
Advice to other campers (not a criticism!):
The ground is ROCK hard. It will be anywhere in such a dry spell but we bent 10inch heavy duty tent spikes to 90 degrees. This is flint country - don't use ordinary pegs and bring a metal mallet rather than rubber.

Liked Sloped field. Portalo toilets that’s it.
Disliked Showers were advertised. owner messaged me to advise that they were being built and not ready so was offered refund. Arrive no showers no sign of any being built. Arrived home still no refund. 10 days later still no refund. Also sea view only visible from a small corner of the field. False advertising.
