  • Tourer park at Kenilworth Rugby Club, 10 minutes’ drive from the M40
  • Kenilworth Castle five minutes’ drive; Stratford-upon-Avon 20 minutes
  • Family-friendly on-site bar; within walking distance of supermarkets
Regardless of whether you’re looking to overnight close to Junction 15 of the M40 (10 minutes’ drive away) as part of an onward journey, or wanting to bed down with your rugby-mad family to catch a Saturday match in season, you’ll receive a warm welcome at Kenilworth Rugby Club. This family-friendly tourer park (with hardstanding pitches right behind the goal posts) has toilets in the club house for camping guests to use. It’s near the centre of town, and within walking distance of major supermarkets for stocking up. There’s a welcoming bar/restaurant on site, run by Pete and Catherine, which is closed on Mondays but open on weekday evenings, Saturday afternoons and evenings (or from 5pm during low season) and Sundays from 12pm to 4pm. The local area is full of wonderful ways to pass your days: follow historic trails around Kenilworth Castle, or investigate the old-world pubs and restaurants along the lively High Street and Castle Hill. There’s also an abundance of walks, footpaths and cycle routes straight from the pitches – just ask club staff for their suggestions.

Primitive gravel and cement/asphalt RV campsite

Liked: Absolutely Nothing.

Disliked: To gain entry tried ringing both of the numbers but no answer,so walked to club so obtain the code, then had to climb a step ladder to unlock the height barrier, fortunately my Husband was able to do this. Once through this we found a car park described as a camping ground, cold communal unisex showers with no cubicles and toilet across the Rugby Field. To describe this as a camp site with facilities is a Joke we booked for 2 nights but stayed 1 we moved to another pitchup site with proper facilities. I'm surprised by pitchup having this place on their site,we have stayed on many of their sites and never been disappointed before.

Liked: The people working at the club and the rugby president and all the others were so helpful and welcoming. We were made to feel very welcome. Flat level ground. Rugby fans so good to be able to watch 2 games. 15 min walk to the bus stop to take a bus to Leamington Spa/Oxford. Family/group ticket £8 return.

Disliked: We weren't able to fill up as we couldn't connect to the tap.

Primitive gravel and cement/asphalt RV campsite

Liked: The club manager Pete was very helpful giving information on the facities available to us and for the site barrier to be open before we entered or exited the site. We visited the club house bar and the staff and regulars were all very friendly. The bar had two real ales on pump and several ciders and beers on keg. There was a match on when we arrived and we were offered burgers from the barbeque. The site is about a mile's walk into Kenilworth where there are lots of pubs and restaurants, several are dog friendly. There is also a bus into town.

Disliked: Whilst the facilities in the club house are good, the toilet and shower facilities available out of hours are basic, one WC and one shower with no hot water. The car park can get very busy on match days.

From the manager: Hi Lynne, thank you for taking the time to leave such a detailed review. It's lovely to hear that Pete was so helpful and we have passed your kind words on to him, and it's also great to hear that you received such a warm welcome. We have also taken onboard your feedback about the toilet and shower facilities. Hopefully we'll see you again soon!

Liked: Quiet site

Disliked: Awkward access procedure through barrier. Dirty showers and toilet

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hi Mark, thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We're sorry that the showers and toilets didn't meet expectations and have taken your feedback onboard. Re the height barrier, we recognise that it isn't the perfect solution but unfortunately it is the only way of keeping our site safe and secure at present.
