Warwickshire countryside

  • Small and simple site on a Warwickshire family farm
  • A 15-minute drive from Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwick Castle
  • Hikes, fishing and open-water swimming in the surrounding area
Well, here’s a winning Warwickshire location for an alfresco break – Owl Barn Farm Camping is a small and family-oriented site 15 minutes’ drive from Stratford-upon-Avon and close to the Cotswolds National Landscape. This countryside site is part of a family-run farm that you’ll be sharing with the resident chickens and goats. (They live in a separate enclosure, but are always happy to receive visitors…) You’ll be staying on grass pitches with access to simple facilities such as toilets, showers and a washing-up area. As for activities, on select dates during high season, the site runs popular goat-yoga sessions. Your cat-cow pose will never be the same after attempting it with a pygmy goat on your back… Filling your days with outdoor pursuits should be straightforward around here: there are lots of walking trails to choose from, plus options nearby for fishing, paddleboarding and open-water swimming. You’ll be able to tick off major landmarks too, including Stratford’s various Shakespeare-themed attractions and Warwick Castle (15 minutes’ drive). Meanwhile, if you’re here on a Saturday, you’ll be able to head over the road and seek out treasures at Wellesbourne Airfield Market. For other shopping (such as meal ingredients), there are a couple of supermarkets five minutes’ drive away; for those who'd rather eat out, there are a few pubs around the area and plenty of places to choose from in Stratford-upon-Avon.

What customers say

A quiet, roomy, friendly campground with decent, basic amenities. Reviewers loved the rural location, closeness to Stratford-upon-Avon, and farm animals. Welcoming owners are a highlight, though some noted signage and shower temp/cleanliness issues owners are addressing.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Lovely site with lots of space per pitch. The owners really made the visit, showing our son the chickens and horses and being so friendly. The shower and toilets were clean and easy to use. Thanks you :)

Disliked I would just say a communal freezer to store ice packs in would be helpful :)

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Lovely site, with pitches cut into the grass so felt like your own space. The animals were such a wonderful addition to our stay, and Vicky really made us feel welcome and got my child (and all the other kids) actively involved with the animals. We will definitely be returning!

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Fantastic vibe. Lovely pitches and surroundings. Great value for money. Will come again with the children. Goats and chickens were fun.

Disliked Toilet and shower block could be modernised and wasn’t totally clean all the time. However this is hard to keep on top of with a full site and was still ok for our weekend away.
Minor point. If staying longer could do with a freezer to rotate ice blocks.

From the manager: Thanks for the review Sanjay!
Totally agree the loo block is quite old and only looks OK just after I’ve cleaned it- especially the men’s loo.
We also do plan to get a fridge freezer - thank you.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Simple, well spaced and level pitches. The location is a great jumping off point for the Cotswolds, Stratford Upon Avon, Warwick etc. The airport down the lane might put you off if you are seeking absolute quiet, but my grand kids loved it. The Goats and Bantams were an added bonus and gave the children something else to natter about.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Nice small campsite, felt safe and well looked after, Vicky was a lovely host!

Disliked Very close to airfield, whilst it wasn't constant there was a period of light aircraft noise for about an hour on the Saturday. It wouldn't put me off booking again, just worth mentioning for other people.

Local attractions

National Trust - Charlecote Park (five minutes’ drive), on the banks of the River Avon, is a Tudor-era mansion that was refurbished in Elizabethan Revival style in the 1800s. As well as a servants’ quarter with a Victorian kitchen, a brewhouse and a laundry room, there’s splendid parkland – designed by Capability Brown and inhabited by deer. Warwick Castle (15 minutes) was built by William the Conqueror in the 11th century and is remarkably well preserved, with opulent staterooms and the impressive Great Hall, with its chequered floor and displays of weapons and armour. Attractions in Stratford-upon-Avon (15 minutes) include Shakespeare’s Birthplace, a half-timbered building with themed areas exploring the Bard’s influences and his works. His wife Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, a thatched structure on the outskirts of town, has original furniture and pretty gardens. For something as far removed from Elizabethan literature as possible, head to the Stratford-upon-Avon Racecourse, with two enclosures – and a Champagne Bar…
