Fishing lake
Quiet, secluded pitches
Sweet delights cafe -wonderful homemade cakes
Plenty of space to feel free

  • Well-kept level 20-acre site 10 minutes' walk from Fleet Hargate
  • A 20-minute drive to Spalding; bus stops in the village
  • Café on site with homemade cakes and summer weekend events
Whether you want to sun yourself on the grass or angle at the water, Lawns and Lakes Camping and Caravanning is a peaceful and well-maintained 20-acre site from which to do both (or nothing at all) among the lovely Lincolnshire countryside... If you’d rather just use the place as a base, that’s no problem either: access to the site – a 10-minute walk from the village of Fleet Hargate and 20 minutes’ drive from Spalding – is straightforward as it’s a short detour from the A17. Roaming on foot is a cinch too – just unhook the gate and wander out onto surrounding paths for a stroll. Any four-legged travellers that have come along for a break can stretch their paws at the site’s dog walking area, half a mile of dog-oriented space with bins for the inevitable mess. Park owners Nigel and Tracy have set their place up to make sure the local wildlife’s just as happy as the guests: there are trees and shrubs all around, along with wildflower meadows that are popular with woodpeckers, kingfishers and other birds. The park’s two fishing lakes are stocked with carp, bream, tench, roach and rudd, and ducks often stop by too. You’re also likely to meet the family’s flock of hens, whose goings-on are most amusing at feeding time. For eats, you may like to set up a barbecue or wander to the village pub or farm shop; treats are to be had closer to home at the site’s Sweet Delights Café, which serves up hot drinks, homemade cakes and ice cream sundaes with a side order of entertainment on selected weekends. A bus stop service is available on site through a call connect service or via a short stroll to the village.

Liked We went during the heat wave and found the site to be great. The pub is air conditioned and served excellent drinks and food was 10/10. Best i have had at any camp site. Whilst there they had an Italian night meal buffet. Again 10/10 with 3 courses and drink. Great value and facilities. Very clean. They are open all year as well with other special events so well worth checking what's on. Will be looking forward to going back again. Wifi available in pub.

From the manager: Thank you so much for your fantastic review and for taking the time to share your lovely photographs with us.

We are absolutely delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay and that both Tracey and Nigel helped make your visit a memorable one. Providing a warm welcome and ensuring our guests have everything they need is something we are very passionate about, so your kind words mean a great deal.

We're also thrilled that you enjoyed our fish and chips and appreciated the cleanliness and upkeep of the site. One of the things that makes The Lawns and Lakes so special is the abundance of wildlife around the lakes and grounds, and it's wonderful to know that you enjoyed experiencing it during your stay.

Thank you again for your support and for sharing your beautiful photographs. We hope to welcome you back to The Lawns and Lakes Camping & Caravanning very soon.

Best wishes,

Tracey, Nigel and The Lawns and Lakes Team

Liked OK as a campsite. Toilets and showers were good and also clean. It was a quiet campsite. Camping only was well priced. Staff very friendly

Disliked Dogs off leads, messing on the grass. Restaurant full of dogs. Advertised a cake shop but was not opened. The restaurant was only opened at 5.30pm for an evening meal which, to us, was quite expensive.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback.

We are sorry to hear that aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations. We would, however, like to clarify a few points raised in your review.

We operate a strict dogs-on-lead policy throughout the site at all times. Had we been made aware of any dog being off lead or fouling on the grass, we would have addressed the matter immediately. Unfortunately, this was never brought to our attention during your stay.

Regarding the cake shop, we were pleased to serve you coffee and cake on your arrival at approximately 3pm on Friday, so we are disappointed to read that you felt this facility was unavailable.

Our restaurant opens for evening service from 5.30pm, and these opening times are clearly communicated to guests. Likewise, our menu prices are displayed in advance. All of our dishes are prepared from scratch using high-quality local ingredients, and we take great pride in both the food we serve and the level of service we provide. We regularly receive excellent feedback from guests who appreciate our commitment to quality rather than a fast-food style offering.

While we respect that value is subjective and everyone has different expectations, we are naturally disappointed by your review, particularly as none of these concerns were raised with us during your visit, which would have given us the opportunity to assist and address them at the time.

We do appreciate your feedback and wish you all the very best for your future travels.

Liked Great site, manicured, good fishing, quiet.

Disliked The bar and restaurant, which was great, is only open at weekends. I understand why that is due to commercial reasons, but it would be great if that could be opened, or even subcontracted out to be opened by somebody else.

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review and kind comments about the site, fishing and peaceful atmosphere — we really appreciate it.

We’re also very pleased to hear you enjoyed the bar and restaurant. This week the bar was actually open on both Monday and Tuesday, however due to low demand it is now closed until Friday. Like many seasonal venues, we do have to balance opening hours with customer demand, particularly during quieter periods.

We do completely understand your point though, and it’s something we continually review as we want guests to have the best possible experience during their stay.

From the manager: Thank you so much for your lovely review. We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed our friendly staff, spacious pitch layouts, and the beautiful surroundings of the site.

We appreciate your feedback regarding the shower facilities during high season. Just to mention, we also had additional showers and toilets available in the Barn area throughout the weekend, which were completely free to use and generally had little to no queues — we understand these may have been easy to miss during your stay.

In terms of children’s facilities, we currently don’t have an on-site playground as there is a public play area just a short 7-minute walk from the site. A swimming pool is definitely on our wish list for the future, and we are currently going through the planning process as we continue to improve the site for families and returning guests.

Thank you again for your feedback and support — we hope to welcome you back again soon.

Local attractions

Not had enough bird-based entertainment on site? Head over to Baytree Owl and Wildlife Centre 15 minutes’ drive to catch a falconry display or flutter 25 minutes away to the RSPB Frampton Marsh Nature Reserve for a touch of twitching in the wild. If the kids are in tow, take them to Jurassic Golf for the crazy golf course then follow up with the Fun Farm indoor play centre (both 15 minutes). Adults meanwhile might appreciate Ayscoughfee Hall Museum and Gardens for the regular concerts, theatrical performances and craft sessions; Peckover House and Gardens is also for them if they’re into aping the aristocracy on tours of posh country homes…
