Nice pub
Level pitches throughout the site
The thames head inn, between cirencester and tetbury
There's plenty of greenery around the site

  • Peaceful site on the edge of the Gloucestershire Cotswolds
  • 10 minutes’ drive from the towns of Cirencester and Tetbury
  • In the grounds of the Thames Head Inn bar-restaurant
Stunning landscapes, scenic market towns and the peace and quiet of the Cotswolds… How could you say no to that? At family-friendly site The Thames Head Inn, four miles from Cirencester market town in the Gloucestershire Cotswolds, you definitely won't want to miss the chance. Thames Head is well-placed for exploring the spectacular Cotswolds on foot or by bike – the start of the Thames Path, which follows the world-famous river for 184 miles from source to sea, is half a mile from the site, and there are loads of cycles tours and walking routes starting in Cirencester and Tetbury, both within 10 minutes’ drive of the site. If that's not your scene, kick back on the dog-friendly site in the shade of the trees, soaking in the scenic and peaceful Cotswolds countryside, or take a relaxed stroll through the fields with Rex. Worked up an appetite? The site is in the grounds of the Thames Head Inn bar-restaurant, where food is served well into the evening and the drinks keep flowing until closing (remember to book a table, as mealtimes can get very busy). If you fancy fending for yourself, pick up supplies in Cirencester or Kemble – a 20-minute walk away – and fire up the barbecue. For a change of scenery – and menus – there are plenty of restaurants within 10 minutes of Thames Head.

What customers say

This small, well-kept site behind The Thames Head Inn has level, mostly gravel pitches with electric. Guests love the attached pub's great food and friendly staff. It's ideal for exploring the Cotswolds and walking to the Thames' source. Limited facilities, including one toilet/shower, are noted.

Liked Great pitches, mostly level and gravel.
Some are close to the road but not that busy overnight.
Pub is great, good food and real ales.
Source of the Thames is about a 15 minutes walk crossing the railway line.

Disliked No emptying point for MH's so be prepared for bucketing waste water or bring an aquaroll. There is a waste hog for use in site but it is locked up so speak to the pub to use.

Liked We stayed here for a few days as it’s convenient to Cirencester.

We picked a large pitch but they are all a much of a muchness.

Limited onsite facilities, one toilet and one shower however as long as the pub is open then their toilets can be used.

Staff were very helpful and polite.
We had food from the bar menu and the main menu. Both were very good, would totally recommend.

WiFi available in the pub but overall phone signal was very poor throughout our stay.

Would consider staying again if visiting Cirencester in the future.

Disliked Could do with better toilet, shower facilities

Liked Lovely clean campsite with around 12 pitches situated at the rear/side of the pub. Pitches are a good size and relatively level.

To access the site you have to drive through the car park and then down a little lane, which when walking back from the pub at night is very dark (you will need a torch). They do have shower and toilet facilities which is back towards the pub, however, we did not use them as have our own on the van.

Really nice pub, good beers and friendly staff.

Disliked Lack of lighting between pub and campsite.

Liked An Excellent small campsite, first visit for us in February 2026, very welcoming, escorted to our pitch, only 1 toilet and shower is very clean a tiny walk there, personally i’d ensure you have a onboard loo. The Thames Head Inn had incredible food, long terms owners and workers doing a roaring trade, we ate both nights of our stay, real fires, real ale, selection of gins & rums just perfect. Well done Thames Head Inn.

Disliked More facilities would be welcomed
