The thames head inn, between cirencester and tetbury
There's plenty of greenery around the site

  • Peaceful site on the edge of the Gloucestershire Cotswolds
  • 10 minutes’ drive from the towns of Cirencester and Tetbury
  • In the grounds of the Thames Head Inn bar-restaurant
Stunning landscapes, scenic market towns and the peace and quiet of the Cotswolds… How could you say no to that? At family-friendly site The Thames Head Inn, four miles from Cirencester market town in the Gloucestershire Cotswolds, you definitely won't want to miss the chance. Thames Head is well-placed for exploring the spectacular Cotswolds on foot or by bike – the start of the Thames Path, which follows the world-famous river for 184 miles from source to sea, is half a mile from the site, and there are loads of cycles tours and walking routes starting in Cirencester and Tetbury, both within 10 minutes’ drive of the site. If that's not your scene, kick back on the dog-friendly site in the shade of the trees, soaking in the scenic and peaceful Cotswolds countryside, or take a relaxed stroll through the fields with Rex. Worked up an appetite? The site is in the grounds of the Thames Head Inn bar-restaurant, where food is served well into the evening and the drinks keep flowing until closing (remember to book a table, as mealtimes can get very busy). If you fancy fending for yourself, pick up supplies in Cirencester or Kemble – a 20-minute walk away – and fire up the barbecue. For a change of scenery – and menus – there are plenty of restaurants within 10 minutes of Thames Head.

What customers say

This neat, level gravel site with electric hook-ups is behind the Thames Head Inn. Reviewers rave about friendly staff, great food, and a peaceful vibe. Perfect for Cotswolds trips and walks. The one toilet/shower is a bit tight, but it's a popular spot for short stays, especially with the pub attached.

Liked Very neat small site with easy access to pub facilities if required. All hard standing pitches which is great as open all year.

Disliked Some road noise and very close to a railway line. No grey waste dumping point for motor homes.

Liked Really great location and set up for an overnight. Just needed a bucket to empty grey waste from motorhome and a long hose for fresh as it was next to a pitch. Good shower and toilet facility if needed. Walked 20 mins to Kemble to get hourly train into Swindon.

Liked Small site with convenient location to surrounding market towns. Pub on site.
More suitable to campervans and Motorhomes rather than caravans. Pub food was great.

Disliked Towing a caravan through the carpark is very tight at peak times.
Would’ve liked some offering from the pub for using the site.
A lot of road and train noise, didn’t bother us too much.
Motorhomes coming and going using as a one stop, nuisance if decided to arrive very late or leave very early.

Powered gravel travel trailer campsite (large)

Liked Flat, lovely central clean green area with benches, respectful guests, small site, clean toilet shower room, beautiful walks, and next to pub which did very tasty food. Great for one night.

Disliked Expensive considering - main road running the other side of the fence, no price change for eating in the pub (40pp) like some venues, one bathroom for all, water point a little difficult to access with a vehicle (10m hose JUST reached with a few moves) and no WiFi. Wouldn't stay longer than a night owing to cost.
