Stunning landscapes, scenic market towns and the peace and quiet of the Cotswolds… How could you say no to that? At family-friendly site The Thames Head Inn, four miles from Cirencester market town in the Gloucestershire Cotswolds, you definitely won't want to miss the chance. Thames Head is well-placed for exploring the spectacular Cotswolds on foot or by bike – the start of the Thames Path, which follows the world-famous river for 184 miles from source to sea, is half a mile from the site, and there are loads of cycles tours and walking routes starting in Cirencester and Tetbury, both within 10 minutes’ drive of the site. If that's not your scene, kick back on the dog-friendly site in the shade of the trees, soaking in the scenic and peaceful Cotswolds countryside, or take a relaxed stroll through the fields with Rex. Worked up an appetite? The site is in the grounds of the Thames Head Inn bar-restaurant, where food is served well into the evening and the drinks keep flowing until closing (remember to book a table, as mealtimes can get very busy). If you fancy fending for yourself, pick up supplies in Cirencester or Kemble – a 20-minute walk away – and fire up the barbecue. For a change of scenery – and menus – there are plenty of restaurants within 10 minutes of Thames Head.

Gostou Very nice roomy pitch, nice local walks, excellent service in the pub, quality reasonable priced food, booking would be advisable.

Não gostou Shower / toilet as mentioned before by others, it was clean though!!

Nice calming stay.

Gostou The pitch was beautiful, we we’re situated under a tree with plenty of grass around to put out the chairs.
The food in the pub was great and very reasonably priced.

Não gostou Not sure if there was a toilet / shower but it didn’t matter to us as we didn’t need one with the motorhome

Loved our 2 nights there.The staff were friendly. A good experience

Gostou Lovely gravel pitch with electric. Not far from the pub which was great. Had lunch and evening meal there and breakfast both of the mornings. Need to book evening meal and breakfast. Superb quality food.

Não gostou The lack of washing up facilities and the provision of only 1 shower/toilet lets it down. There are 11 (approx) pitches so cannot guarantee a shower when you want it. Toilets in pub can be used when it is open

Gostou Fantastic spot behind a lovely pub. Despite being near a road, we didn’t hear a thing. A nice area in the middle with picnic tables and good sized pitches.

And only a 15 min drive to Lake 86 for some paddle boarding!

The pub is lovely and the food is excellent…

Não gostou There was only 1 toilet and shower for all guests. The site was fully booked so the sanitary facility was always occupied. We think this is to be improved by the management.

Gostou Level pitch.
Electric hook up and facilities for waste disposal (waste water and porta loo) near by.
Shower water pressure was good.
Pub food was excellent.
Staff very welcoming and helpful.
Free WiFi in pub but not on campsite so a chance to relax away from social media

Não gostou Shower and toilet in same room. Would be good if in the future these could be separated so toilet is accessible when shower is in use.

Gostou Pitch was perfect. Very peaceful. Busy road nearby, but didn't notice it.
Lovely walk for the dog, in fields down to main footpath.
Food in Pub was outstanding.
Would definitely recommend.
We will certainly be back.

There are plenty of stately homes near The Thames Head Inn if you want to get a feel for the history of the area, with Newark Park, Sudeley Castle, Dyrham Park, Bowood House and Berkeley Castle all within 45 minutes’ drive of the site. TV addict? Visit Chavenage House, 15 minutes from Thames Head, which you may recognise as the Poldark family home of Trenwith from the eponymous BBC drama… If you’re more at home in the outdoors, explore some of the many gardens within 20 minutes of the site, rub elbows with the royals on a trip to Highgrove Gardens at the private residence of Charles and Camilla or, on a grander scale, stroll around the national arboretum at Westonbirt. Got kids trailing along? Get the best of both worlds at Cotswold Wildlife Park and Garden – meet the giraffes, lions and camels, then wander through the gardens at the Victorian manor house. If that’s not hitting the spot, take the kids to learn more about the Romans at Corinium Museum in Cirencester or give them Harry Potter vibes on the Swindon and Cricklade steam railway.
