What customers say
Spacious, scenic site with a peaceful vibe and welcoming hosts. Level, roomy pitches. Basic but clean portaloos/water; no showers noted by some. Great for walkers/cyclists, near pubs/shops. Occasional traffic/camper noise reported.

Wrote more in negative than positive, but the experience was fantastic
Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked Quiet, great location, camping next to the water was lovely, 10 minute walk from a 24hr shop/petrol station, clean field, well maintained
Conversely what I’ve written as a negative (low staff presence) did make it feel more like wild camping and less part of a campsite, so that did feel like a benefit. 30 second conversation for car reg and proving our booking and then we were left to our own devices.
Disliked Bit of a lack of online presence, nothing on Google maps, called the neighbouring camp by accident and they’ve said it was a reoccurring issue, nobody really there to check or greet us till later, so we felt a bit strange just putting our tent up and leaving again
Small smell around the bathrooms but you expect a plastic portaloo to smell during a horrendous drought and heatwave

We had a lovely night here last weekend - thank you so much! ☺️
Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked Lovely owner, beautiful site with fabulous views.
Back to nature and back to basics.
Gorgeous sound of the river next to the site.
Little park and football field next to campsite for kids.
Just make sure you bring your own washing facilities. We brought our own toliet and toilet tent for in the night which was handy. The site has portaloos though which were fine and kept clean. No sinks but there were filled hand gel dispensers.

Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked Location is great for reservoirs, bamford, hope, win hill, castleton and great ridge, big open field
Disliked Toilets are portaloos but that is ok if you don't mind, bring sanitiser in case, water is not really drinkable so bring bottled water

Very reasonable price for lovely views and easy stay.
Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked Perfect for a short stay. Great views of bamford edge. The kids park was an added bonus. Everyone on the site seemed friendly, no anti social noise etc. 2mins drive from a petrol station if your a lazy camper and want a sausage barm for breakfast (like us)! Would stay again if needed somewhere in the area, really decently priced.
Disliked It is next to a main road so if traffic noise bothers you probably not the place for you. As advertised it is a basic site no shower blocks etc and the portable loo style toilets. So great place for a base for great walks but if your wanting somewhere longer you may need showers.
