It’s only half an hour’s drive from Juliette Tentvakanties at Camping Le Domaine du Logis to famed Brittany destinations like Rennes and Saint-Malo… but you’ll need to sort out significant time around the grounds first. This six-hectare park in the grounds of a 15th-century château is crammed with things to do for all ages, whether tastes tend towards peaceful fishing by the riverbank or joining in with sports sessions… lazing on the restaurant terrace or teeing off at the miniature golf course. There’s an open-air pool too (with massage jets to soothe any tired muscles), a pétanque court, miniature golf, a sports field and a fitness room… and a paddling pool, playground, trampoline and bouncy castle where kids can let off steam. In summer, the site buzzes with activity: kids’ club antics run on weekday mornings and the afternoons are filled with sports tournaments and aqua gym classes. Live music graces the bar a couple of times a week and there’s a big screen to keep an eye on professional sporting endeavours. For eats, head to the restaurant for meals by the cosy fireplace or out on the terrace, or pick up a pizza to take away. And when you – finally – make your way off site? There’s loads to do in the surrounding area: as well as Rennes, Dinan and Saint-Malo all around half an hour away, this is a land of beaches, châteaux, animal parks, amusement parks, rural bike rides… better sort out some significant time in the surroundings too. The little village of La Chapelle-aux-Filtzméens is 10 minutes’ walk away.

Local attractions

There’s so much to do in this setting slap bang between Rennes and Saint-Malo that your best bet is to start close to home then work your way further afield. Three fine attractions are within 10 minutes’ drive: Cobac Parc amusement park (hurrah, say the kids) and the castles of Château de Combourg and Château de Bourbansais and zoo (possibly not a hurrah from the kids, but let them know there’s a zoo at the latter château and they’ll probably come along tamely enough). And then to the coast and Saint-Malo, home of rampart walks, a castle, a handsome Old Town and enough stretches of beach to tire out even energetic offspring. A more grownup time can be sorted at Mont Saint-Michel (50 minutes), a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most famed images in all of France. Heading inland, another castle is at Dinan (25 minutes), and a day must be had at Rennes, to see its medieval centre and cathedral, and to have a galette and a Breton cider in a café around Place Sainte- Anne.
