  • Wild camping on a hilltop farm near Lampeter, Carmarthenshire
  • A 20-minute drive to Cae Hir Gardens; half an hour to Aberaeron Beach
  • Dog-friendly site with livestock; shops and pubs 10 minutes’ drive
Go back to basics with an off-grid break at Pyllau, a pop-up site on a family-run farm with outstanding views over the Welsh valleys and hills around Lampeter. Book an overnight stay when visiting family or friends at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, or settle down for longer to explore this peaceful corner of Carmarthenshire. However long you stay, you’re sure to be warmly greeted by the site menagerie, consisting of horses and ponies, pigs and cows – there’s a friendly resident cat too. While dogs are welcomed on the site, it goes without saying that they need to be closely controlled due to the presence of livestock. Lampeter (10 minutes’ drive) is where you’ll find supermarkets for picking up barbecue supplies (bring your own gear from home). If you don’t fancy cooking, search out the local pubs, where you can get a good pint and food. Please note that this is wild camping in the true sense of the word, and there are no showers and no electricity on the camping field.
