  • Self-catering glamping pods in the Brecon Beacons National Park
  • Llandeilo and Carreg Cennen Castle within half an hour's drive
  • Hot tub, barbecue and private bathroom for each pod
Brecon Beacons walks by day, followed by a night in a cosy and quiet wooden pod… could it get much better? Well, actually it could – because each of the units at Glamping Pods Wales also comes with its own private hot tub just outside… That means you’ll have a whole host of ways to soak up the stunning scenery when you stay here, whether you head out for a hike or stay put for a sunset barbecue and an evening in the bubbles. The stone barbecue is provided too, so you’ll just need to bring along the supplies if going for that option (shops in Llangadog, Llandovery or Llandeilo should be able to provide all of that…) If you are indeed heading out for a walk, this is a good place to do it from – this western side of the national park has plenty of quieter trails to follow, but it’s also within easy reach of favourite spots including Llyn y Fan Fach and Carreg Cennen Castle. As an added bonus, there’s a red kite feeding station about a mile and a half away where you can see the magnificent birds up close. The site’s own scenery is rather lovely too: you’ll be surrounded by flower beds and mature trees (including a 100-year-old Scots pine), with countryside views all around and dark starry skies overhead by night. It’s all very peaceful and far from passing traffic but it’s worth remembering that, as the pods are part of a working farm, you’ll need to keep an eye on the kids at all times. Pods here are comfy and well equipped – each one has its own kitchen, dining area and bathroom with toilet and shower.

Oak View 1 bedroom camping pod (two person)

Liked: clean, extremely well equipped.

Disliked: bed was too soft, we like exploring towns so it’s location was just a bit too far out for us. but perfect if you want to just stay and relax at the pod. wi fi was poor, we connected to the other pods and was better than our own.

Pine 1 bedroom camping pod (four person)

Liked: Peace and tranquility. The pods in located within an area to the side of the working farm. It is not a noisy place to be, it's so quiet and lovely. The weather when we went was a little hit and miss but it didn't stop us getting out and about across the Brecons and beyond. As a family owned and run farm, the pods are dealt with no differently. The attention to detail is perfect and their desire to ensure you have a good, peaceful holiday never goes away. Our kids loved playing in the hot tub and watching the work on the farm. We were so delighted to be invited along to one of the community events when we stayed. We wouldn't hesitate to return to the Price's Farm in the future, maybe even during lambing season and get the kids working. Thank you for a pleasant holiday, the kids are still telling their friends about their final day feeding the lambs.

Disliked: Absolutely nothing.

Oak View 1 bedroom camping pod (two person)

Liked: Great location, very clean and good amenities to use. Very friendly hosts who offered assistance where needed. Stunning views all round from the property and enough privacy.

Disliked: Would have liked the hot tub to be a bit warmer - was no option to make hotter and wasn't comfortable to stay in if cold weather outside. Wifi connection was poor.

Local attractions

Make sure your walking boots are in good condition before you head here – they’re likely to see many miles as you tackle the scenic trails around places like Usk Reservoir (20 minutes’ drive) and Llyn y Fan Fach (half an hour). Fancy exploring in a different way? Head out on horseback with Beacons Equestrian (35 minutes). This part of Wales is well supplied with castles – a couple of particular favourites are hilltop Carreg Cennen (half an hour) and riverside Dinefwr Castle (35 minutes). The latter also combines nicely with a walk from Llandeilo (25 minutes), a pretty town with several places to eat. Keep an eye out overhead as you walk, because there are often big birds to be seen. If you’re not lucky enough to spot them in the wild, or you’d like a closer look, stop by at Red Kite Feeding Station Llanddeusant (five minutes).
