  • Sea views on site; short walk from Talybont station
  • Access to facilities of sister site including swimming pool
Settle in for sea views from several corners of the site at Tyddyn Goronwy Camping Park in Gwynedd, in the seaside village of Tal-y-Bont and a couple of miles from the beaut beach at Barmouth. Pods and pitches here are flanked by sea and mountain views, and are within easy walking distance of the village, which has a takeaway and a riverside pub. Even closer is Talybont station, a couple of minutes' walk away and handy for outings to Barmouth beach or north to the peaks of Snowdonia. Showers, toilets and a washing-up area are available on site. The pitch price at Tyddyn Goronwy also includes a free leisure pass to its sister park Sunnysands Caravan Park, a short drive away, to use its heated indoor pool, café, fish and chip shop and other facilities – and you might want to stick around for the spectacular beachfront sunsets too.

Camping pod (no pets)

Liked: The site was in a great spot, views are amazing.
Clean toilet/showers etc.
Usually have a tent but used the pod for convenience. Great little space.

Disliked: I understand the reasons why but would have loved the option to use a fire pit.

Liked: Staff were friendly and toilets were clean

Disliked: Not very family-orientated. There were several large groups who played loud music and were heavily drinking. There was quite a bit of litter in and around the campsite too.

The bathroom had a code which became infuriating with a small child who was desperate for the toilet and you didn’t have the code with you!

Liked: The campsite itself is well-maintained and clean. Its close proximity to the seashore offers a beautiful view, especially at sunrise and sunset. The toilet and shower facilities were clean and in good working condition. It’s a peaceful place overall, and great for families or groups looking to enjoy the outdoors.

Disliked: Be mindful of the weather, especially wind conditions. During our stay, it was extremely windy—two out of the five families in our group had their tent poles broken due to the strong gusts. This site is quite exposed, so we’d recommend checking the forecast carefully and coming prepared with sturdy gear.

Unfortunately, we had a poor experience with customer service. Despite booking five pitches together, we were not allowed to group them, even though an adjacent pitch was empty. When we politely asked at reception if one family could move closer to the others, the staff member firmly refused, saying, “I tell you no,” with no room for discussion. This lack of flexibility and the rude tone were disappointing—especially since we’ve stayed at other campsites where grouping or negotiating was never an issue.

Liked: Nice little site, tidy and well kept. Staff friendly. Short walk down the lane to a complex with shop, chip and burger bar and a club house, expensive but ain't they all! Beach just a bit further down. A pub in the opposite direction, 10 minutes walk, worth a visit.

Disliked: Lights on all night on the camping pods, too bright!

Local attractions

To Barmouth first, of course: its position on the north Wales coast surrounded by Snowdonia National Park makes it a popular and pretty place to visit – and the huge beach is pretty special to see as well. Away from the coast (eventually), a wide range of activities is available around Tyddyn Goronwy Camping Park, from cycling to hiking to pony trekking – or strap on lots of energy and tackle the Snowdon and Cadair Idris mountain ranges a short distance away. A chuffing good way to see the spectacular scenery of north Wales is on one of its small steam trains: the nearest to Tyddyn Goronwy are the Fairbourne Steam Railway just outside Barmouth and the Ffestiniog Railway about 10 miles away.
