  • Cosy Essex glamping accommodation on an arable farm near Mundon
  • A 10-minute drive to Maldon; 40 minutes to West Mersea beach
  • Adults-only pods with private decking; vineyard and wildlife on site
The special views towards Maldon and the River Blackwater get a big thumbs up at Southey Creek Glamping, a peaceful spot in the Essex countryside. The adults-only pods are quietly located on an arable farm near the village of Mundon – and those views change according to the time of year as different crops come and go. Your backdrop may be made up of wheat, peas, beans or rapeseed, and you'll also spot young vines in the vineyard. The neatly styled and cosy pods are designed as a romantic retreat for two, with a comfy bed, snuggly sofa and ensuite shower. Kitchenettes come with microwave, hob, fridge and coffee machine, while complimentary tea and coffee means a welcome hot drink the moment you arrive on site. Heating and insulation should keep you toasty and warm, whatever time of year you visit. On pleasant days, simply move yourselves outside onto the private decking and barbecue, sit back with a good book or spend some time admiring the vineyard views, vivid sunsets and the glittering stars on clear nights. Useful things to bring on your Essex escape: a torch to find your way back to the pods after dark; charcoal for the barbecue and a camera and binoculars to capture any passing wildlife… look out for barn owls, kestrels, deer and hares. Unfortunately, as this is a working farm, dogs and children are not allowed.

Marsh Harrier camping pod

Liked: Communication from the owners before we went, giving us information of how to find the location with lots of details about the surrounding area, things to do, places of interest to visit, eating out etc. On arrival being greeted and shown the pod and having everything explained to us i.e. how the appliances worked. All the personal touches, fresh flowers in the pod, tea, coffee, milk and sugar supplied at no extra cost to us! fresh made ice for our drinks. The pod was spotless! the bed was comfortable, we had everything that we needed within the pod to relax and enjoy our time there. Only two pods there so was very peaceful and relaxing just what we like , lovely views. Its a working farm Julie and her mother-in-law were so friendly and welcoming. Southey Creek Glamping is minutes away from Maldon, in the Guest book people that live in Maldon have visited there! speaks for itself!!!

Disliked: Nothing it was perfect!!!

Marsh Harrier camping pod

Liked: Really lovely place, private and quiet with picturesque views. The pods are well made well presented and very cosy with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Julie is a brilliant host that greets you on your way in and gives you plenty of information about the local area including some really nice walking routes that are a must! We did one at night and the starry sky was amazing! She wished us fair well and safe journey on the way out too. For us this personal touch was fantastic. Highly recommend this place and will 100% stay here again in the future.

Marsh Harrier camping pod

Liked: Wonderful! Exactly what we hoped for. Julie is a lovely host, helpful and friendly. We booked with just over 24 hours notice (having been let down by another venue) but the pod was fresh, clean and warm with excellent facilities. The small site is quiet, peaceful and it’s a great area for walking and birdwatching. There’s a lovely traditional pub about 1 mile away where we enjoyed a meal and a game of pool, and it’s easy to walk to Maldon for more hustle and bustle! We plan to return and have recommended this place to friends.

Disliked: Nothing!
