What customers say

Great staff & clean facilities, love the woodland setting and play area. Some note sloping pitches, mud, and busy-period facility strain. Needs general upkeep, but good value and many would come back.

Liked Great space in the bottom field giving the kids lots of space to run about. Well equipped playground. New toilet and shower facilities.

Disliked Long walk to the toilet and shower facilities if you’re in the bottom field. No water points other than outside the toilets.
Most pitches are sloped. Roadways need attention.

Powered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Great facilities, toilets/showers are lovely and modern. Playpark is great for the kids. Can have a nice stroll through the woods and just a short walk from a couple of lovely pubs. There is 2 sections to the site, one up top and one on the field. The field pitches were much more spacious than the top centre section, we were pitched in the field section near the play park and had great sized pitches with the whole field to look out onto. Also love that you can use fire pits, makes a nice cosy outdoor evening.

Disliked Very hilly and the pitches are on a downward slant. We didn’t find this too much of an issue but it did mean furniture was uneven and anything that could slide would slide downward (beds, carpet etc) we all woke half way down our beds in a morning.

We are really pleased you enjoyed your stay with us and glad to see that you would visit again in the future.

The pub down the road will normally do food everyday except Monday and Tuesdays but recently the Chief has been on holiday we will contact them and ask them to update the poster.

Many thanks again and we have taken note of the comments.

Local attractions

To the Peak! The Peak District National Park is but a short drive from Riddings Wood Holiday Park, and has a bit of what you fancy for all ages and inclinations. If you're in the area to hike, there are more Peak District trails than you can shake a (walking) stick at, from the shorter treks of seven or so miles around the upper Dove Valley and Pilsbury Castle, to long-distance paths like the Limestone Way (46 miles), the Derwent Valley Heritage Way (55 miles) or the Peak District parts of the Pennine Way, running for 268 miles from the northern Peak District to just inside the Scottish border. Climbers and cavers also delve into all things Peak: thousands of routes for all abilities are all over the park for climbers, including Burcen Edge for beginners and more hair-raising ascents like Debauchery and Mad Dogs and Englishmen for the severely experienced. If you're of a cavernous disposition, make your way to the village of Castleton and its four show caves, Blue John, the Peak, Treak Cliff and Speedwell Cavern with underground boat trip. Matlock Bath has a cable car to take adventurers to limestone caverns The Heights of Abraham, and Poole's Cavern near Buxton has vast caves to explore before an above-surface walk around Buxton Country Park. Other attractions like Chatsworth House and Gardens and the old Crich Tramway are to hand for the historically-minded, alongside old Peak District villages and market towns for tearooms, restaurants, family pubs and lots of shopping: try Buxton, Ashbourne and Bakewell to start you off. Back at Matlock Bath, let the kids go large at the rides and attractions of theme and play park Gullivers Kingdom for ages two to 13; the 600-acre Matlock Farm Park nearby should keep them busy for a bit too.
