  • Green and serene site in the spectacular Staffordshire Moorlands
  • Alton Towers within a 20-minute drive and 30 to the Peak District
  • 3.5 acres of open fields, five minutes from restaurants and pubs
For rollercoasters and roams alike, head off on a hol to Springfields Countryside Caravan and Camping, a 3.5-acre site with a large open field for playing in off a peaceful lane with hilly views. It’s less than a 20-minute drive to the rides at Alton Towers, 15 minutes to the city of Stoke-on-Trent and 200 metres from the main road… but the spectacular Staffordshire Moorlands surrounds mean you wouldn’t have a clue that it's all so close by. Tear yourself away from the vistas and ponder eats: they’re varied in the local area, with pubs and restaurants as well as Indian and Chinese takeaways five minutes away by car. In charge of cooking? The supermarkets of Cheadle are your spots to stock up less than a 10-minute drive up the road. Once you’ve got your meals sorted, you could be skirting the edges of the glorious Peak District National Park in half an hour, ready to roam around traditional market towns like Buxton Spa. Other typically English things to do in this area include perusing the pottery at the popular Wedgewood Museum at World of Wedgewood (15 minutes’ drive) and Gladstone Pottery Museum (10 minutes) or riding the working steam Foxfield Light Railway and the Churnet Valley Railway (10 and 15 minutes away). Alternatively, you can make like you’re in Milan by having a gander at the Italian-style Trentham Gardens about 20 minutes down the road. As is fitting for such a countryside setting, barbecues and campfires are permitted on site, and there are handy essentials such as a washing-up area, toilets and showers.

Fully-serviced grass pitch

Liked A brilliant campsite! The staff were lovely and the little touches made this site great. For example, each pitch has it's own fire pit that you can move and use where you like. The bbq and pizza oven area is equipped with 2 stone bbq's and one pizza oven, all with implements and gloves for anyone to use. Low level sensor lights that light up on your approach to the showers and loos.

We were on pitch 7 and had oodles of space, with a low hedge either side to separate you from neighbours. The site did not feel over crowded or busy even though, all bar 2 pitches were taken during our stay.

There is a small play park and lots of space in front of your pitch to play games.

Fully-serviced grass pitch

Liked Super friendly owners, nothing was too much trouble.
We had a good size tent pitch with electric hook up.
Clean bathrooms with family size shower cubicles and warm water. Plenty of room to get changed.
Cooking facilities were great with communal bbq and pizza oven. There’s also a fridge, freezer, kettle and microwave which came in handy.
The play park in the centre is fab.
The site generally has an easy going feel about it. We will stay here again next time we visit Alton Towers.

Liked Clean, friendly, excellent facilities. New this year are hammocks, retro semi permanent trailer tent done up as a labour of love - would love to stay in this next year! We come here every year now - Sharon and Paul put a lot of love into this site and it shows. Looking forward to next year's camp already :-)

From the manager: Thank you so much for the glowing review and your continued loyalty!

We’re absolutely thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the new additions this year. Sharon, David and Paul put their hearts into creating a special atmosphere here, and hearing that their labour of love on the retro trailer tent and those relaxing hammocks, made such an impression means the world to the whole team.

We can't wait to welcome you back next year! We’ll be sure to save a spot for you (or maybe even that retro trailer tent!).

Safe travels until then!

Bell tent (deluxe)

Liked Great location if you're looking for a budget family holiday. We go here every year to hire one of their luxury bell tents. Spacious for a family of four, a field to play frissbie and badminton. We liked the fire pit and furnitures provided, place was clean. Loved the showers and the kitchen facilities. Loved the info hut where you can find local activities and nearby attractions. Every year there's a new addition to the camp like the communal barbecue and pizza oven. My children loved the hammocks and the playground. Very easy to check in and check out. This year, we spent our 2nd night watching the eclipse and stargazing. The location was perfect! We made great lasting memories here. So, thank you to our wonderful hosts, Paul, David and Sharon. We felt very welcomed at Springfields.

Local attractions

Whether you’re up for browsing the racks, meeting monkeys or taking on treetop adventures, Trentham Estate (20 minutes’ drive) is the place to go: this one-stop complex set around an old manor house has a shopping village, apes and a rope-based expedition course through the forest. Rather watch the horses or bike racing than rush about in the woods? Uttoxeter Racecourse is 20 minutes away from Springfields Countryside Caravan and Camping, while the Darley Moor Motor Cycle Road Race Club is reachable in half an hour. For calmer times, the stunning Dove Dale Stepping Stones and Thorpe Cloud – a limestone hill with views out over the Midland plain – are 20 minutes from the park for riverside and mountain walks. Or maybe try a bit of fishing? Blake Hall Fisheries (10 minutes' drive) sells day tickets for its three well-stocked lakes.
