Positiv: Everything... the view of Dartmoor, the peace, the well kept drop loo, short walk into Chagford... will definitely stay again. Loved it.

Positiv: Absolutely belting campsite. No pitches, just pick a spot on the massive open field, pitch up, crack open a cold one and enjoy the absolutely fabulous views! Toilet, rubbish bins and cold water, what more do you need? The delightful town of Chagford is a mere 10 minute stroll away with lovely pubs and welcoming local shops.
Fred the campsite owner is a very accommodating lovely chap and he made us feel welcome.
Our 3 children loved the wide open spaces and freedom to roam, with plenty of space for cricket, frisbee, football, rugby and everything in between.

Negativ: Not a dislike, but it is a steep walk back from Chagford!

Positiv: Amazing find, clean, good facilities and an amazing fire pit that gave the kids a really fun evening. Clear night spent watching the shooting stars!

Positiv: This site is destined for greatness. When we stayed. It had been opened 4 nights. The basics are there, composting toilet, running water and soon to be installed shower.

Fred (the owner) and his dad were incredibly friendly and helpful. The ethos is keep the number of pitches small so there’s room for kids to run around.

If you’re in anything larger than a Crafter van, you’ll struggle to navigate through Chagford’s streets, so come from the opposite direction.

This place is like a new band that you’ve seen live, and you can brag how once upon a time…

All the stars indicative of the love we have for the place. It’s still new and a work in progress. But thoroughly charming. Good luck to Fred and his dad!

Negativ: Nothing to dislike really other than signage to find the field was tricky, and the entrance awkward for the LWB campervan, but that’s being dealt with, and a new entrance being created.

Vom Platzbetreiber: Thanks for the positive review Jon, it was great to meet you. There is no doubt that entering the site is not the most straightforward if your'e in a lwb van. The approach is made more simple if you pass the gate and turn around at the triangle 200yds passed the gate and enter the site going downhill. All being well we will have a new entrance next year. Positiv: Quiet, no nonsense camping field with compost loo. Booked last minute, lovely find just outside Chagford. Great location for accessing Teign Valley, Castle Drogo and the rest of Dartmoor. Chagford Lido was great after a long day walking.
