Checking out spots to stay between the north Cornwall coast and Bodmin Moor? Then it might be time to check in at Lanarth Hotel and Caravan Park, a family-run site in St Kew Highway, just off the A39. This spacious park has 10 acres of peaceful gardens to relax in, plus nicely level plots that are easy to access (so no need to stress about squeezing down those pesky West Country lanes). You also get use of the hotel's well-maintained facilities, including an open-air swimming pool (from late May to early September) and a fully-licensed bar (from July to August and most weekends during the rest of the season) with a games room kitted out with pool tables and air hockey. A purpose-built toilet and shower block is a short walk away from the pitches. There's a pub that serves hot food, a Cornish pasty shop and a hairdresser's a short distance away in the village, while those who need to stock up on groceries have supermarkets in Wadebridge (10 minutes' drive), which is also a stop-off point on the gorgeous Camel Trail. Bringing a bike here (or hiring one in town) opens up 18 miles of almost totally traffic-free vistas, so make sure to earmark a day for some relaxed backcountry pedalling. After days of exploring, once back at base, you could chill around a barbecue, order a nightcap at the bar or simply take advantage of the low levels of light pollution and gaze up at the night sky…

Positiv The camp was safe for the kids to explore on their bikes. The showers were clean. The swimming pool was great again for the kids. It was peaceful and in a great location for the local beaches and padstow. Having an onsite bar was good too.

Positiv This campsite is a hidden gem!
Family of 3 for a camping trip. Beautiful grounds, lots of shade Site extremely clean and very well maintained though out. Lots of space between you and other campers, very quiet!
Pool was a big bonus- we had the pool to our selves despite being the summer holidays.
Campsite easy to find and accessible to explore the best of cornwall.
Owners friendly and helpful always around. Lots of water points and easy walking access to the shower and toilet block which was clean and stocked (toilet roll/hand wash ect) throughout.
Bar on site- good value for drinks. pool table and ping pong table.
We feel like we have found the perfect campsite here and will definitely return in the near future.
I would highly recommend this campsite!

Negativ There was nothing at all that we disliked.
Constructive criticism is that the swimming pool was absolutely baltic when first getting in and it would be good if it was slightly heated or even a couple of degrees warmer.

Positiv Beautiful, peaceful site surrounded by trees. Unheated pool very welcome for a quick dip on a hot day. Clean showers and toilets. Large pitches with space for kids to play in between. Enjoyed the table tennis. The owner, Steve, was always around to keep an eye, give advice and help when needed. Great location to explore many beaches and towns. Kids made friends and could play safely within watching distance.

Negativ One washing up sink in a small room was the only downside although still didn't have to wait for long in August.

Positiv Quiet family friendly campsite lots of room to play. Outdoor swimming pool bar from 8pm table games snooker pool air hockey reasonable prices

Negativ Only thing stopping this place getting 10 starts was the showers only 3 per block male and female showers no family option
They needed a bit of a refresh, tired and nowhere to place clothing to keep it dry had to literally go down in towels sometimes even the towel got wet

Almost opposite the site is Saint Kew Golf Course (two minutes' drive), a 4550-yard-long course with a driving range that welcomes both adult and junior players. (If your golf isn't up to much, there's also a farm shop and cosy café next door.) For other active jaunts, you could feel the wind in your hair by walking on the splendid South West Coast Path (15 minutes) or lope over rugged Bodmin Moor (15 minutes), perhaps venturing out to famed 18th-century smuggling haunt Jamaica Inn (30 minutes). For beaches, you could launch a trip to Newquay (30 minutes), where a mixture of sandy shores, surf culture and classic arcades pretty much guarantees good times all round.
