Woodside Country Park

Positiv Great setting, spacious, well kept site with lovely nature reserve area. I especially enjoyed the quiet swims in the lake before 11am. Would definitely come back.

Positiv Beautiful location with stunning scenery. The owners are lovely and very friendly. Nice lake for watersports. Bathrooms and all facilities nice and clean. No shop on site but the reception sells a few essentials and ice creams. Great location for family holidays, really relaxed vibe. Walkable distance to Ledbury and the roads around are nice and quiet. Good location for exploring the Malvern Hills.

Positiv Friendly welcome
Despite the number of signs about turning lights off, keeping noise down after 10:30pm etc it was a very relaxed, chilled environment with friendly respectful guests.
Our 5 berth pod was spacious enough for two people who like plenty of space and tall enough to stand up in. It was in a shaded area which was very much appreciated as the temperatures soared to over 30 degrees. The birdsong was beautiful. The view across the sloping field, down to the lake and hills beyond was lovely.
The toilet and shower block is just a few metres away, and has a small fridge, a washing machine, a dryer and a large sink (no plug). The shower is good.
There is an outdoor wash up area with two sinks and plenty of space for everyone to help with the washing up. There was always hot water
The lake is not too big and has steps for access so this weak swimming pensioner had her first try at wild swimming since I was a child and I loved it. Muddy yes, noisy yes but the young people jumping in kayaking and paddle boarding were very mindful of swimmers. In this hot spell the lake area was noisy but the rest of the site was quite quiet.
Children were having an amazing time and I noticed that I never heard anyone shouting at their children, and I didn’t hear any children whinging about anything.
The fields are spacious and there was plenty of room around our pods and our friends caravans to enjoy a shared meal around a fire pit in the evening

Negativ The dislikes are mostly minor but worth a mention to help manage expectations.
1) The main one is the shower block by the pods. (Not sure what other ‘amenities ‘ were available elsewhere on site - we didn’t look as the fields were very busy so we assumed they would be busy too) - just make sure you wear flip flops or sliders when showering or using the loo!!
There were just two toilet cubicles, 1 wash basin and 1 shower in the ladies, I assume this was mirrored in the gents. Over the bank holiday they were in very high demand so there was at times queuing for the shower and on one occasion I came out in my towel to dry and dress by the sink so that a waiting family of three could use the shower cubicle . Over the weekend, despite the valiant efforts of the staff who were even spotted mopping out at midnight, the toilet / shower area was wet and muddy a lot of the time as so many people were using the lake and then needing to shower. (A large floor wiper is provided for people to clean up after themselves but as the water/mud extends to toilet cubicles there is no where to wipe the mud into if the shower is in use)
2) the booking information says pod checkout is 10 am but a notice inside the pod says 11am. We never did discover the definitive answer but we certainly did not feel pressure to leave
3) the little onsite shop doesn’t open til 10. After a spilt milk incident on our last night I had to scrounge some milk for our morning coffee. We only used it to buy logs for the fire pit - for fresh food we used the Tesco in Ledbury on our way back from days out

Positiv A little piece of heaven!
This site is wonderful and peaceful, and the staff are all friendly. The lakes and pond are great. A number of people were wild swimming while we were staying, and there was also walking yoga and a sauna.
We fell asleep listening to the Muntjac deer barking in the woods. My husband enjoyed the fishing in the top pools.
Ledbury is a lovely town, and is a 2.5 mile walk through beautiful orchards and vineyards. There are also other walks from the site, including the Herefordshire Way.
We actually only booked for 1 night, but stayed another. We definitely be back!

Positiv Fabulous views, option to go wild swimming, walking from site into Ledbury and in Herefordshire way, very spacious pitches, tranquil overnight, good communication from staff.

Negativ Onsite facilities were ok but no more.

Positiv Used a campervan on the orchard field, great for the amenities, showers, toilets and washing up facility. Theres a slight slope on the feild but wheel chocks sorted that.
Lovely friendly staff on arrival.
Enjoyed the opportunity for a swim, although I came out with a lovely Mediterranean tan 😂

Negativ Thought maybe the noise gestapo could have been a little friendlier, but as we were probably the last group in his rounds he'd lost his cheeryness. Wasn't an issue though.

Positiv We enjoyed the open grass spaces for walking the dogs. The lakes were also beautiful. The staff were also very efficient and friendlywe stayed in the bigger pod which had a generous amount of space. It was also very clean.

Negativ Unfortunately lights were not working in the bathroom.

Ive noted you only gave us 3 out of 10 for wifi, it can be a bit hit and miss around the site, but generally the pod area is fine, as its closest to reception, please always speak to us if you are having any problems as we are very happy to help. Again i'm not sure which lights you are referring to in the bathroom, we arent aware of any problems, i know the switch can be tricky to location sometimes, as its behind the door. Please never worry about contacting us as thats what we are here for to make sure everything runs smoothly for your break here at Woodside.

Positiv Fantastic family friendly site with beautiful views of the swimming lake, woods and beyond. A very welcoming, lovely owner who greeted us once we’d settled onto our pitch and said goodbye when we sadly had to depart. The fairy door trail and climbing frame went down particularly well with my daughter. We can’t wait to return and brave a dip in the lake next time! Thank you for a great stay Woodside!
