Leap and lollop your way to Harebeck Holidays for peaceful rural breaks with mountain views near the Cumbrian coast. Set a mile outside the pretty village of Gosforth and 10 minutes' drive from Seascale beach, this site is on the western edge of the Lake District, making a great base for days out around the river Esk and Ravenglass. The Wasdale Valley, where Harebeck Holidays is located, has lots of mountain views to liven up the scenery, including vistas over Scafell Pike, England's tallest peak. Let yourself get fully immersed in the countryside or try paddleboarding on Wast Water – and don't worry if your clothes come back a little on the damp side, as the site has a handy drying room where you can leave your boots and outdoor gear to air out. Other on-site facilities include a bathroom block with two separate showers and three toilets, as well as extras like a changing mat, step, toddler seat and hair dryer if you need them; bath towels are provided. Outside, there's secure lock-up bike storage available on request, as well as a washing-up unit with hand towels provided. When it comes to sourcing provisions, you can order eggs or a meat or veg pack from reception (at least 48 hours prior to arrival) or buy a disposable barbecue pack from site staff. Stocking up for the long haul? Harebeck Holidays is happy to take supermarket deliveries too. There's also a lovely coffee shop in Gosforth, just 15 minutes' walk away. You may also get the chance to go on a farm tour where the owners explain their agricultural methods and show off some of their prize animals.

Del gerent: We try to help guests where we can offering our local knowledge if asked. When there is no cloud down to lower levels there are fabulous views of fells surrounding the Wasdale Valley with Harter Fell and Coniston Old Man in the distance.

Del gerent: Thank you for your feedback. Personal circumstances mean the site has not had the usual lick of paint that we usually do in early spring. Yes my mower was broken and needed a part imported from Germany even though it is a British make. We are currently trying to bring the place back up to our usual standards, Glad you enjoyed your stay.

Caravana gitana

Em va agradar We loved staying on the farm, looking out over the fields to the cows & sheep, Meeting the farm cats.
Such a peaceful location, I slept better than I do at home.
There was everything we needed there, bedding, pillows & towels.
Heater, air fryer, toaster, little fridge & kettle plus plates and cutlery.

We would definitely stay again 💕

Em va agradar We went to sleep listening to the birds and woke listening to the birds , very peaceful and quiet, especially as there was only us and another van there .
Toilets & shower spotlessly clean .
Seascale beach 10 minutes drive away .

Del gerent: We are in the Lake District National Park where signs need to be unobtusive. At the end of our lane there is a sign for Thornbank Farm, with a picture of cows and sheep on it and others from our milk co-op with the farm name on. and smaller ones for Harebeck Cottage. Smaller Directional signs are there for our glamping site.
If it is night time these may not be as easily seen as they are set back a little from the main road.
I try to send to send texts with directions to everyone.

Caravana gitana

Em va agradar The caravan was very cosy, with a little fan heater to keep it warm during an unseasonably cold June. The owners were friendly and lent me an air fryer from one of the other pods. This was alongside a kettle, mini fridge and toaster. There were lovely views from the caravan while having my breakfast.

The showers were hot and there were towels and a hair dryer in the bathroom. Very welcome after a soggy walking day! The owners kindly took my very wet boots into the house to dry overnight, which was wonderful.

It's also a cat lovers heaven! Very friendly with a bunch of tiny kittens running about.

No em va agradar It would have been extra helpful to have a bit more info in advance - that bedding is provided, so no need to bring your own and which appliances are in which caravan etc. just to help with food planning and packing.

Del gerent: You made friends with Mopsy my favourite car she is friendly and quiet.
On the description on pitchup it does state bedding and towels are provided. It also states there is a light , toaster, kettle and minifridge in thr bowtop.
Descriptions for the Shepherds hut and Pod are seperate.
I will look onto this to ensure the site has the correct information displayed in the correct place.
I only provide travel advice when contacting guests.

Em va agradar Great site - have used this as a base for riding the Velo29 C2C two years now - can't fault it and would defo go back. Pitches are great, host is really helpful, facilities are good.

Local must-sees like Muncaster Castle and Gardens (10 minutes' drive) and the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway (10 minutes to the nearest station) are great for seeing some of the prettiest pockets of the surrounding area's landscape, while for ancient history there's second-century Hardknott Roman Fort (30 minutes) – lots more artefacts from the days when Cumbria was an outpost of the Roman Empire can be seen at museums in Workington (35 minutes) and Carlisle (an hour and 20 minutes). For time along the coast, treat yourself to an ice cream at Seascale beach (10 minutes), explore Whitehaven (25 minutes) and its Georgian port or set off to spot seabirds on the cliffs around St Bees (20 minutes). Rock climbing, scrambling, guided walks, bike hire and horseback riding are all available in the local area. To keep the kids happy, take them to permanent activity centres like go-karting in Maryport (45 minutes) or the indoor climbing wall at Kendal (an hour and 20 minutes).
