Banish any visions of a stressy holiday stuck in hot cars and slow traffic out of your head… At North Shore Holiday Centre, a family-friendly Lincolnshire site 10 minutes’ walk from the centre of Skegness, you won’t have to travel far to stay busy once you arrive. North Shore is on the outskirts of Skegness, and there’s plenty of seaside resorty things to do within easy reach of the site: the sandy beach, pier and town centre are all within walking distance, and you’ll have to drive for less than 15 minutes to get to the museum, nature reserve, aquarium or theme park. There's tons to keep you busy on site too: perfect your end-game at the nine-hole pitch and putt, try out the arcade games, take the kids to the playground and go game-set-match on the tennis courts. Those with dogs should also be pleased to hear that the site has an enclosed dog area where they can be let off their leads. Feeling peckish? There are oodles of eateries within 25 minutes’ walk of North Shore, or you can settle in for a meal on site – call in to the fully-licensed bar-restaurant, then stick around for the evening’s entertainment.

Very quiet on the pitches.

Please consider dislikes but these should not stop booking here.

No em va agradar Having to use a card to go to the loos / shower / pot wash. One card between to of us.

Cost of a beer in the bar and the volume of the music. Needs a quiet area. We used the bar once in three nights because of this.

Toilets and showers were not as clean as they could be, not enough hangers in showers and you are gonna come out wet due to space / floor / humidity. The showers were too hot for me.

Em va agradar Easy access to washing up, toilets, fresh water, shop on site.

No em va agradar Upon entry, we were given a map of where our pitch was and asked for £20 deposit for access card- no mention of what was on site, where to find other things, opening times of anything, how to access things, what entertainment there was. Just didn’t seem particularly welcoming service compared to other sites we’ve visited. Facilities could do with an update, particularly showers to hang your things properly when in the cubicle, the arcade had so many machines not working and the play parks were so outdated/ broken/ unsafe for children. Could be so much more than what it is, plenty other campsites that are cheaper with better amenities.

Em va agradar Great venue. Lots of space on pitches. Park out front is good and shop is great for caravan parts etc.

No em va agradar Staff were not helpful. Took 2 days to try and book swimming at Coastfields. After speaking to them and phoning, they said they would get back to us, but never did. Had to send husband in to book, which they said they would, to which when we went were told we were not booked on.

Entertainment wasn’t great. Drinks expensive. Smelly shower rooms.

As soon as we arrived, we could smells marijuana and just really disappointed us as this os not what we want for our kids.

No em va agradar Card for electric/barrier/toilets- only 1 provided for £20 deposit. Not helpful if 1 has gone out (barrier) or gone to the toilet and another needs it.

Em va agradar Friendly reception staff, clean site, great size pitch.

No em va agradar When arriving in a motorhome you can't reach the sensor at the barrier with the pass to raise the barrier, you have to get out of motorhome to do it, needs a higher sensor.

Kids will want to dive into the aquarium, the fairground and the brightly lit amusements of the pleasure pier, while grownups might have more appreciation for the Naturelands seal sanctuary or The Village, Church Farm open-air museum. Want something for everyone? The entire family should be entertained with trips to Fantasy Island theme park (in nearby Ingoldmells), the Lincolnshire Coast Light Railway and the stock car and bangers racing at Skegness Raceway, all within 10 minutes of the site. When you want to take your adventuring beyond the bounds of the seaside town, you can find peace 15 minutes away from the thrill rides and squealing tyres with visits to Gibraltar Point Nature Reserve or the flat Lincolnshire Wolds for cycling and walking trails, or by making a pitstop at the spectacular Gunby Hall and Gardens for a taste of splendour. For a quirkier outing, make your way a little further afield for a night at the Kinema in the Woods, believed to be the only full-time cinema in the UK still using rear projection for screenings. Screen one is home to an organ covered in 18th-century-style lacquered consoles and screen two has trompe l’oeil-style paintings of rural Lincolnshire on its walls.
