Picture your next break among green space, woodland walks and cycling trails in the peaceful woodland setting of the famed Forest of Dean, on the edge of the market town of Coleford… You'll get a warm welcome at this relaxed, family-run and family-friendly park, in an area surrounded by ancient castles and abbeys, smashing scenery and miles of waymarked walking and biking trails. As Greenacres Campsite is right in the middle of the Forest of Dean, across the road from a woodland and within walking distance of the River Wye, it's in a good spot for fishing, bike rides and long woodland strolls, as well as easy access to attractions such as Clearwell Caves, Puzzlewood, Cannop Ponds and Go Ape at Mallards Pike Lake. Set in a field that stretches across two acres within an 11-acre smallholding, pitches are spacious, level and grassy, and the park is surrounded by huge mature trees that provide good shade and shelter from the elements. Kids should be kept very well occupied at the excellent playground less than five minutes' stroll away, where there's also plenty of space for ball games and dog walking. Guests here can hire firepits (including wood) from the site. Off-ground barbecues are also welcome: most handy if you land yourself a fish or two in the Wye or decide to pick up a few sausages in Coleford… Otherwise, there's a good traditional English pub in Newland, a short walk away, and another in Staunton within a 30-minute woodland ramble. The wider local area has plenty of pubs, restaurants and takeaways (many of which are happy to deliver straight to the site).

Un càmping ben cuidat amb personal amable i atent. Instal·lacions excel·lents i netes. Parcel·les espaioses i planes, ideal per explorar el Forest of Dean. Botiga i cafeteria amb esmorzars i pizzes. Em va agradar Sehr schöner gut ausgestatteter Campingplatz. Saubere und ausreichend vorhandene Sanitäranlagen. Kleiner Shop und Kaffee sibd ebefalls vorhanden. Die Stellplätze sind in Gras oder befestigt verfügbar und mit und ohne Strom.
Alles sehr gepflegt.

Em va agradar Only stayed for one night whilst on a solo road trip and it was lovely! Toilets were clean, as well as the showers. There’s an area to wash up, and the reception/shop was cute! Only stayed for one night so didn’t connect to the WiFi so can’t comment if that was good or not!

Em va agradar Lovely clean campsite… our pitch on the grass area was big and spacious. Behind our pitch was a walkway path ideal if you have a dog which leads to a big grass land to exercise your dog.

Toilet facilities were clean and tidy

Em va agradar Campsite was in a great location, near to the town but far enough away so as to be peaceful. Pitches were large and flat. The cafe was fantastic, with lovely breakfast rolls and staff were all friendly and helpful. The toilet blocks were always clean. Even the portaloos, although got a bit muddy were cleaned really often and therefore not an issue.

Em va agradar Lovely, peaceful campsite in a beautiful location, perfect for exploring the Forest of Dean and ideal for dog owners. The facilities were clean and well kept, and we had a really relaxing stay — we’d definitely return!

Outdoorsy types are well catered to around here, with canoeing and paddleboarding at Symonds Yat Rock, archery and clay pigeon shooting in St Briavels, and pony trekking at Bream. If you're into golfing, then you're also in luck: Coleford has two courses, both less than 10 minutes' drive away. Follow the walking trail through the ancient 14-acre forest of Puzzlewood – the location for the filming of Dr Who, Star Wars, Merlin and Atlantis – to see rock formations and twisted trees, or visit Clearwell Caves to learn about the forest's 4,500-year ore and ochre mining heritage, both within a couple of easy miles of the site. Heaps of historic spots are within easy reach of Greenacres Campsite too, including Tintern Abbey's ruins and the castles of Raglan, Goodrich and Chepstow. The Dean Heritage Centre is a short drive away in the valley of Soudley, and comes highly recommended by Greenacres staff.
