Just next to the Offa’s Dyke Path and on the banks of the River Teme, Panpwnton Farm is about as close to Wales as it’s possible to be without actually being in Wales (although as the border’s just a couple of hundred metres away you can easily flit between the two nations as you wish…) That location makes this a prime pick for anyone making their way along the entirety of the Offa’s Dyke Path – but there’s plenty of walking (and cycling too) to be done nearby for folk who aren’t up for such long-distance ventures. The farm is in the southern stretches of the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (10 minutes' drive from Llanfair Waterdine), where lots of scenic trails await, and you can also try out shorter stretches of Glyndwr’s Way, another major trail on the Welsh side of the border. There’s pretty rural scenery all around the farm, but you’ll not be stranded miles from civilisation – in fact it’s only about a mile to the small town of Knighton for pubs, eateries, shops and a railway station. You can drive down there in five minutes or so, but the favoured way to travel is to stroll along the riverbank for 20 minutes. Barbecues are permitted on site, so stock up on goodies for the grill while you’re in town. A washing-up area is on hand for cleaning up afterwards, and there are hot showers to help you do the same for yourself. There’s no wifi on site, but most guests get decent phone signal, and there are charging facilities to make sure you’ve got plenty of juice to plan your adventures.

喜欢 Everything, but let me try to be specific:

- the meadows and the river where you pitch your tent
- plaintiff space between different pitches
- the facilities are made of a refurnished barn, looks great
- the facilities, bathroom and shower, are clean, well lit with hot water
- there’s a fridge you can use
- there are proper sinks to clean dishes
- there are events every week, such as singing, etc.
- there’s a small nomad coffee shop, which also serves breakfast on site
- the village is a five minute walk along a wonderful river
- and the campsite is at the beginning of a large choice of wonderful hikes
- the owners are lovely

不喜欢 Perhaps the facilities are a bit small given the number of clients who use the space, but it all worked out when we were there.

喜欢 This site is the perfect spot for a lovely weekends camping soaking up the beautiful outdoors! There’s a great variety of pitches to choose from, facilities are always clean and well maintained. We’ve been coming camping here since our middle daughter was just a baby, in fact this is the first place she ever camped (and ever slept through the night 😂). Walking trails are right on your doorstep, Knighton is a lovely town and there’s gorgeous hikes just a little way down the road. Kids always feel safe and welcome here as well.

喜欢 Relaxed nature of the campsite. Sufficient usual facilities as you get on most campsites plus a little kitchenette. It was lovely to have Offas Treats, the icecream was the best I've ever had!
It's always nice to have a river running through any campsite too.

喜欢 Beautiful calm spot. Plenty space. Little food truck with ice creams, bacon baps and coffees. Showers toilets & washing up area plus kettle and microwave also. Stream near by and running thro campsite. Knighton only 20mins stroll along the river, with cafes, pubs, eco refil type store, offas dyke visitors centre, laundrette, church yard, play park. So lush! Owners were super helpful and responsive and flexible to me needing to arrive early cos I’d broken down!

不喜欢 Shower and toilet block were pretty clean over the weekend despite it being busy but slightly less so during the week when it was quieter. Not gross or anything, just lots of grass cos it’s been newly cut.

As you’ll probably be skipping about either side of Offa’s Dyke, it makes sense to start your trip with a visit to the Offa’s Dyke centre (five minutes’ drive) to find out about the ancient landmark. For other walking trails, head to the Elan Valley or Carding Mill Valley and the Long Mynd (both 40 minutes). For a closer look at the natural world, plan trips to the Small Breeds Farm Park and Owl Centre (25 minutes) or stop by at the Red Kite Feeding Station (40 minutes) to see these splendid beasts in flight. The Spaceguard Centre observatory (10 minutes) is also worth a visit if you’d like to find out more about the skies overhead. Castle outings are part of the landscape for trips here too – perhaps to the impressive 13th-century fortifications of Stokesay Castle (half an hour) or the art-filled rooms and colourful gardens of Powis Castle and Garden (50 minutes). If you’d rather skip straight to the garden strolls, try Hergest Croft Gardens (25 minutes).
