Scenic Alvingham Lakes is a peaceful holiday retreat on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds with the added bonus of fishing on site. Just 15 minutes' drive away from the historic Georgian market town of Louth, it's easy to track down a varied selection of good eateries and pubs. Plus, some of the finest east coast beaches are also a short drive away. The site has two fishing lakes crammed to the brim with common, mirror, grass and Crucian carp as well as roach, rudd, bream and tench – plus what the owners say are a few little surprises. Folks flock here from all over for the fishing and peacefully scenic surrounds, on a friendly and calm site full of feathered inhabitants like heron, moorhens and doves. It's a basic but well-maintained site, with a toilet, handwashing facilities and barbecues (and dogs) allowed; there's also a self-service café for drinks and snacks in between angling or just wandering placidly around the scenic surrounds. Louth is three miles away and a big supermarket is within 15 minutes' drive of the site. For drinks after a long day's fishing, the village social club is a short walk away.

喜欢 Nice smallholding with farmyard animals around

不喜欢 The ground was very uneven and not suitable with disabilities.the shower was very small with a hinged door going into the shower making it difficult to get in and out, also the water even after running till hot became warm only. the lane to the site was extreemly pitted and difficult to drive along .

喜欢 So peaceful and tranquil. Not many other guests so very quiet and felt almost like a private retreat. Loved the turkeys, chickens and sheep coming to see us, so friendly! Hosts are great, there when you need them but otherwise left us to our holiday. Plenty of walks for the little dog locally and lovely to see owls, swans and other birds out in the wild. Toilet/shower spotlessly clean at all times. Easy to get to shops nearby if needed and a short car ride (approx 15 mins) to Louth. Would highly recommend this site. GREAT value for money.

不喜欢 No WiFi and quite limited phone signal, appreciate it’s a quiet break out in the sticks but some WiFi to keep connected to folks back at home would be useful but didn’t in any way spoil our break as there is so much to enjoy. (Purely just a personal preference and shouldn’t deter anyone from booking)

喜欢 Made to feel very welcome by Ian and his wife, the camping pitches are around the two fishing lakes which create a great view first thing in the morning, had everything I needed, would happily return in the future.

不喜欢 Minor thing but the road leading to the lakes is an unpaved gravel track that some might find a bit uneven, didn’t cause me any pro and I was towing a trailer.

喜欢 Lovely site. Peaceful and relaxing. Spacious pitches. Facilities excellent . Cafe on site . Beautiful fishing lake and plenty of wildlife. We had breakfast delivered to our motorhome door and it was the best breakfast we have eaten and very reasonable price . Will definitely return .

喜欢 Lovely peaceful place, nice and quiet. Clean facilities. Great welcome, lots of free range animals roaming around, all very friendly.Good place to just chill. Nice walking by the disused canal, unfortunately having an elderly dog & buggy for her the walk to Louth wasn't doable due to stiles.

The pubs, eateries, independent shops, traditional markets and award-wining butchers and grocers of lovely Louth are three miles away; after eats or shopping, have a wander around this historic town to see its 17th- and 18th-century buildings or take in a show at its Riverhead Theatre. Louth market days are on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The towpath of the disused canal runs along to Louth if you want to get there via a scenic wander, while if you're up for a longer walk you can follow it from there all the way to Tetney Lock, via the local churches, heaps of wildlife and spectacular views. A 20-minute drive away is the Donna Nook National Nature Reserve, where seals come to pup each autumn, and 30 minutes away are the beaches of Lincolnshire's eastern coast.
