  • Peaceful retreat with fishing on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds
  • A 15-minute drive from Louth and 25 minutes from east coast beaches
  • Wildlife haven with two fishing lakes; walk to the village social club
Scenic Alvingham Lakes is a peaceful holiday retreat on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds with the added bonus of fishing on site. Just 15 minutes' drive away from the historic Georgian market town of Louth, it's easy to track down a varied selection of good eateries and pubs. Plus, some of the finest east coast beaches are also a short drive away. The site has two fishing lakes crammed to the brim with common, mirror, grass and Crucian carp as well as roach, rudd, bream and tench – plus what the owners say are a few little surprises. Folks flock here from all over for the fishing and peacefully scenic surrounds, on a friendly and calm site full of feathered inhabitants like heron, moorhens and doves. It's a basic but well-maintained site, with a toilet, handwashing facilities and barbecues (and dogs) allowed; there's also a self-service café for drinks and snacks in between angling or just wandering placidly around the scenic surrounds. Louth is three miles away and a big supermarket is within 15 minutes' drive of the site. For drinks after a long day's fishing, the village social club is a short walk away.

Liked Stayed here for the weekend and met a friend there. I absolutely loved staying at this hidden Gem, the pictures do not give this site the credit it deserves !! The owners Ian and Terri make you feel so welcome, the site is kept spotless. The animals there are all loved and cared for they all have their own little characters. Watch the cockerel turn your back and he’s got you 🙈. We even got lucky to spend time with Terri whilst she was feeding the goats and the pigs. The lakes are peaceful and people were enjoying fishing. Shower block and toilet was spotless. There’s a little room you can make tea and coffee on site and a book corner to swap or take a book for a donation.
There’s a little cart selling fresh eggs from the happy hens which are very tasty.
Deffo will be returning to this small idyllic place ❤️❤️
Thank you for sharing with us.

Liked The welcome from the owners with information pack and lots of further information on the area and site facilities. Lovely extensive site and wildlife along with an array of animals/birds living on site. Very peaceful stay.
Great walks available immediately from site, along the canal, Louth just 3mls in lovely scenery.

Disliked Our only minor issue was the space between berths on our particular visit which was Easter with potentially exceptional circumstances, but this was reduced with Ian's assistance, offering us an end berth after our first night, very accommodating and we loved were we ended up, thankyou.

#2 2 bedroom static caravan

Liked Loved the close proximity from the Static Caravan to fishing lake and looking out of the Window each morning to lake.
It was a lovely peaceful site, watching the mother and her ducklings, chickens with the baby chicks and sheep with their young coming to see us throughout the day.
Lovely walks for the dogs along the canal which you let them off lead.
My husband loved fishing each morning , 6am, and having a chat with Ian the owner, when he was doing his rounds.
There are no pubs, restaurants near by but that didnt bother us. We did find a community centre who welcomed us on Friday night for a dinner. Please look on their website Alvingham Village Hall, you need to book in advance for any events.

Local attractions

The pubs, eateries, independent shops, traditional markets and award-wining butchers and grocers of lovely Louth are three miles away; after eats or shopping, have a wander around this historic town to see its 17th- and 18th-century buildings or take in a show at its Riverhead Theatre. Louth market days are on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The towpath of the disused canal runs along to Louth if you want to get there via a scenic wander, while if you're up for a longer walk you can follow it from there all the way to Tetney Lock, via the local churches, heaps of wildlife and spectacular views. A 20-minute drive away is the Donna Nook National Nature Reserve, where seals come to pup each autumn, and 30 minutes away are the beaches of Lincolnshire's eastern coast.
