Gostou Loved it xx amazing scenery. Friendly people. Even though it was on top of the hill, there was some bushes that protected me from the wind. I really love the place. Plus, your showers are lovely and hot.

Não gostou I’m not a fan of portable toilet so compost toilets will definitely be an improvement for me. Also maybe the odd pizza truck on a Saturday night

Gostou See view, quietness and close proximity to the sea.

Não gostou The portable toilets were in bad condition. It had smelly sulphur, ammonia and old urine smells, that was unbearable to visit.

There was also an incident with a horse rider screaming at the vehicle in front of us doing 5mph. The person asked why they are shouting and the lady seemed to have made up a list of excuses and it sounded as if she was shifting blame for no reason.

We're very sorry to hear the portable toilets were not up to standard during your visit. Our team clean and maintain them regularly throughout the day and this is not the experience we want for our guests, we take feedback on our facilities very seriously. We are pleased to share that we have planning permission for a permanent toilet block on site, which we very much hope will make a significant difference for guests in the future.

We were also sorry to read about the incident involving the horse rider. We understand how unpleasant and unsettling an experience like that can be and we sincerely apologise that it occurred during your stay. We work closely with Chesil Equestrian who share the site with us and we will be sure to raise this with them directly, as it is important to us that all guests and visitors feel respected and welcomed at all times.

We hope that despite these issues you were still able to enjoy elements of your stay and we would very much welcome the chance to make it up to you should you choose to return to Sweet Hill Farm in the future.

Gostou Consistently well managed semi wild camp site, excellent cafe with a great choice of drinks, rolls and baked goodies. Lovely staff and perfectly located in semi -Portland wilderness. A great base for twitchers, walkers, rock climbing, swimming, sea fishing and other water sports. Horse riding/equestrian centre on site and a great shower block with nice hot showers. A new toilet block is on the cards which will greatly add to an already fantastic site run by Charlotte and Daniel. Hopefully be back soon for another sea fishing escapade.

What an absolutely wonderful review, thank you so much, this truly made our day! It's incredibly kind of you to mention so many aspects of the site in such detail and we're so pleased that Sweet Hill Farm continues to hit the mark for you time and time again.

We're delighted to hear the café, showers, staff and location all impressed, and it's lovely to know the site works so well as a base for so many different adventures, from twitching and rock climbing to sea fishing and water sports. There really is something for everyone here and we love that our guests make the most of everything the area has to offer.

We're thrilled you mentioned the equestrian centre as Chesil Equestrian are a wonderful addition to the site and it's great to hear they're being enjoyed by guests too. And yes, we're very excited about the new toilet block as it's something we've been working hard towards and we can't wait for guests to see it in place.

Gostou Another great stay at Sweet Hill Farm. A little muddy this time around due to recent wet weather, but impossible to avoid. The fields dried really quickly in the few days i stopped over as the weather was mostly dry. Great coffee and breakfast rolls as usual and the staff were all great. I may get one more visit in this year, weather and work permitting.

How horses were kept - no grass horse poo everywhere
Our tent broke due to the very high winds staff didn’t help told us to sort it ourself over the phone, told to take the broken tent with us to find a bin and advised there was a tip on the island, stayed in a hotel for the night then when we come back was told to pitch up anywhere for then later that night we was told that we had to move and he tryed saying he said only 2 fields so we had to move the next morning. This really disturbed the 2 kids that was with us at the time however the views are amazing

Do gerente: Thank you for your review. We’re sorry that the very high winds made this such a difficult camping weekend for you.

On the grass and the horses: like much of the country, we had experienced weeks of drought before your visit, so the grazing was extremely dry and bare. Our horses are supplemented with hay during dry spells and the fields are cleared as they are rotated. Sweet Hill is a working farm as well as a nearly-wild campsite, and Chesil Equestrian is a separate business, so there will inevitably be horses and some horse manure within grazing areas, but this shouldn't be confused with the cleanliness of our campsite facilities, which our team works extremely hard to maintain.

We were also sorry that your tent was damaged in the high winds. Unfortunately, we can't take responsibility for guests' camping equipment or dispose of large damaged tents on their behalf. When you called, our team advised you of the local household recycling centre so that you had somewhere appropriate to take it.

When you returned to the campsite, two of us suggested Sammy's Paddock because it offered the most shelter from the wind. The pitch you set up in was in Mollie's Meadow, an electric hook-up pitch clearly signed as reserved for guests who had booked and paid for EHU, and it had already been paid for by another guest. That was the only reason you were asked to move, and I'm sorry it added to what was already a difficult weekend.

I would also like to say a word for our team. They have worked incredibly hard through an exceptionally hot and busy summer, keeping the facilities clean and looking after our guests with genuine care. The weather made for a challenging weekend, and I am proud of how they handled it.

Sweet Hill is a nearly wild campsite on a working farm in a very exposed coastal location. That's a big part of what many of our guests love about staying here, but it also means we can't control the weather or remove all the realities of camping and farm life. We're sorry your stay wasn't the experience you hoped for, and we wish you well on your future camping trips.
