Ik was blij met Facilities brand new and kept clean and tidy. The site was still undergoing the last of its renovations but didn’t impact the stay and can tell when it’s 100% done it’ll be a really good site. Pitches nice and spacious, site manager explained everything really well. Close to drive to pubs and the main shore areas of Rutland water and can access the nature trail to walk/cycle by the lake from the campsite

Ik was blij met Showers & toilets were fabulous. Brand new and brilliant. The site was ongoing maintenance and workmen working to build the marquees for the bird sanctuary next week.

Ik was niet blij met No noise, no music, any electric over your wattage will be paid extra!! No leaving until 08:00? We leave at 06.30 every where we stay!!! We need to get home! Thousands of birds in cages in marquees having thousands of people staring at them. Cruel. No bar, restaurants, or anything. The place is just a field, electric and showers, albeit beautiful.

Lyndon Top is clearly advertised as a quiet site before booking. This is deliberate due to our location and proximity to the nature reserve. We therefore feel it is unfair to mark us down for a rule that was clearly stated before you chose to stay.

You also expressed surprise that we do not have a bar or restaurant. We do not advertise either facility, so we are unsure why their absence came as a shock or why this should reflect negatively on the site.

Regarding the barriers, once installed they will restrict vehicle access between 11pm and 8am, but guests returning outside these hours can use our car park. More importantly, the barriers were not installed during your stay, so this did not affect you.

Your comments about Global Birdfair are also completely incorrect. There are no birds in cages; in fact, there are no birds at the event at all. It is a major wildlife and conservation event that raises substantial sums for projects protecting threatened species and habitats.

It is always disappointing when guests choose to raise concerns anonymously after leaving rather than speaking to our team during their stay. Had you spoken to us, we could have clarified all of these points at the time.

We welcome constructive criticism, but reviews should be based on accurate information, facilities we actually advertise and matters that genuinely affected the guest’s stay.

Ik was blij met NB this review is for a complementary (free) stay in the field, not the actual main site, so cannot comment on facilities etc.
Emailed prior to arrival to let me know they were not able to open as planned due to ongoing construction, apologising and promising refund + offered free stay on their certified location field instead. I took them up on the offer as I was already in the area.
Fresh water tap & black waste disposal point at field entrance gate. Friendly owner.
Location is 5-10 mins walk/cycle downhill to the Rutland Nature Centre. (unfortunately, Rutland Water is not accessible to view/walk around etc without paying entrance just FYI but partial reservoir views from some of Lyndon Top's fields)
This field was adjacent to the road so some noise from vehicles. Hopefully their other pitches are further down the lane towards Rutland Water so quieter!
Refund took a couple of weeks but has now arrived, many thanks.

Ik was niet blij met The site was closed for refurbishment on the weekend I was due to stay so I couldn’t stay.
I was promised a refund but have not yet received this over one month since the planned stay. I have tried to email the site but had no reply.
I was called about the issue but have not had a follow up and am still waiting.

Van de manager: Good evening, I’m sorry you have not had your refund yet, everyone on our list has received theirs so I don’t know how you have been missed. We also don’t have any emails from anyone saying they still haven’t had it.

As your email is anonymous, would you please call the office tomorrow with your name and booking details and we will get this sorted straight away.

Once again, we are sorry this has been missed but hope to welcome you on site now we are open.
