After a cosy spot somewhere in the Cotswolds? Historic houses, museums and market towns are out in full force around the cosy Cotswolds Camping in its Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty six miles from Chipping Norton… to be exact, this family-run site is 15 minutes' drive away from Blenheim Palace and within striking distance of many characteristic Cotswolds trails. At the same time, Oxfordshire is the other way and Oxford itself is just 15 minutes’ train journey away from Charlbury Station (five minutes’ drive). As for those of you with a soft spot for a hardcore shopping trip, you won’t be left in the lurch here, as Bicester Village has a shopping outlet 35 minutes’ drive away and Stratford-upon-Avon is 45 minutes’ drive away for handsome riverside scenes and independent shops. Now, how about those hiking shoes? Well, the site has access to fancy footpaths, bridleways and woodland walks, so you’ll be able to get right to the rambling. You might want to stop by the local village, Charlbury, on your way around the local area, as there are food shops, pubs, cafés and restaurants here, all within walking distance of the site. And don’t worry, you’ll be able to carry the good time onto the site, as barbecues and firepits are both permitted – the same for dogs. As for the facilities you’ll have on hand, these include a play area, shower, toilets and a dishwashing area to help you deal with any dirty pots and pans.

Cabane de berger Stable Barn

A aimé The site it's self is very friendly toilets were clean. There is also a park for the children to play and a Caffe and bar on site.

N'a pas aimé No one was on the desk when we arrived so we rang the number. We were directed by phone how to get to our cabin and where the key would be. We were not given any other instructions on where showers toilets kitchen were etc. I'd have liked to physically spoken to someone face to face, so more information could be given.

Réponse du gestionnaire : The warden runs the site alone, typically when it gets after 6pm he will be busy around the site cleaning the facilities. He is cleaning from 8am until 11, then at reception or close by reception from 12 o’clock until around 5pm , then cleaning from 6pm until 8pm managing check ins up until 8pm via telephone, there are 5 maps across the site showing all the facilities, you could also ask the warden or text him. I will pop by now and explain in details where all the facilities are

A aimé Really good location for what we wanted, good facilities, toilets and showers were clean. The ground was soft and pitch was big and level! Staff were friendly and welcoming!
Only 9/10 because nothing is perfect!

N'a pas aimé Signal was abit hit and miss, bins were full but that’s out of the wardens control!

A aimé Great campsite with lovely facilities everything was clean. There is small bar/caffe we had live music evening on our stay. In the evening good look for a sunset (we was on the pitch number 89).

Réponse du gestionnaire : Government guidelines for toilets is a minimum of 1 toilet for 25 pitches. We have just under 100 pitches with 13 communal toilets , 6 private and 11 communal showers and 2 private. The toilets in the front of the campsite all have shaver/toothbrush charging ports (5) we also have 5 washing up sinks. There are five maps across the campsite which highlight all the facilities. Next year we are increasing the amount of toilets and showers on site and going from septic tanks to main sewerage. Each and every year we aim to build upon and improve the facilities. If you do decide to visit again ask for Keith or Daniel to explain all the facilities in detail.

Trail time? You might want to begin with the Roman Fosse Way, passing by the towns of Stow-on-the-Wold (25 minutes' drive) and Moreton-in-Marsh (25 minutes). Or from Lechlade-on-Thames (half an hour), perhaps you'll roll right on to the Thames Path, if you’re not drawn into the water with watersports such as canoeing. Characterful towns and villages are a Cotswolds staple and it shows… Burford (15 minutes) is boxed full of unusual shops, pubs and tea rooms, while in Witney (20 minutes), you’ve got classic entertainment courtesy of a multi-screen cinema, shops and leisure centre mixed in with markets and the historic Cogges Manor Farm. In Woodstock (15 minutes) there’s more history inside The Oxfordshire Museum. Like Chipping Norton (10 minutes), the place has a swimming pool, shops, pubs and tea rooms galore, to add to Chipping Norton’s theatre and cinema. Historic are many of the houses around here, and that includes the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Blenheim Palace (15 minutes), the Jacobean Chastleton House (20 minutes) and or the 18th-century Buscot Park (35 minutes). For more activities in the throw of it all, there’s Cotswold Wildlife Park & Gardens (25 minutes) and Bourton-on-the-Water’s equestrian centre, brewery and motoring museum (half an hour).
