A glamp-orous stay near Newcastle Christmas market: from £6.67 per person per night

Wooler, Northumberland: Pitchup.com has availability on its camping pods at Riverside Country Park this season with prices starting from £40.00 for a two-night break based on three people sharing (£6.67pppn).

Cradling the banks of Wooler Water, this friendly and well-maintained site on the edge of Northumberland National Park offers cosy accommodation for a winter stay with fantastic indoor facilities including a swimming pool, a Jacuzzi, a games room and a bar and restaurant. A scenic stay near Chester Christmas market: from £10 per person per night

Wrexham, North Wales: Pitchup.com has availability on its camping pods at Bryn Dwr Camping Pods this season with prices starting from £80 for a two-night stay based on two adults and two children sharing (£10.00pppn).

Situated on the banks of the River Alyn, Bryn Dwr Camping Pods is a well-maintained site in the Welsh countryside, just 20 miles from historic Chester. The pods feature private decking extending out over the water, and have their own beds, heating and lighting. Showers, toilets and dishwashing facilities are just a short walk away in the main house.

From 20 November to 14 December, visitors can discover the Chester Christmas market. Over 70 traditional wooden chalets will be positioned in Chester’s historic town centre, outside the town hall, Library Square and other locations. The market will offer a variety of products including crafts, clothing, jewellery, giftware and local food and drink. New for this year is the 40ft sparkling Christmas tree on Town Hall Square, which will provide a magical centrepiece to the market. 

Plymouth Christmas market getaway from £16 per person per night

This cosy log cabin in South Devon is perched on a hill overlooking the Yealm Valley and superb South Hams. The fully-equipped property is minutes from the beaches  and just nine miles from Plymouth. Yealm Cabin is in an area with no light pollution and has its own observatory where guests can book an appointment to stargaze with a local astronomy expert. Germany Christmas market break from £11.23pppn

Kassel, Germany: Pitchup.com has availability on its microlodge at Campingplatz Naumburg this season with prices starting from £89.84 for a two-night stay based on four people sharing (£11.23pppn). A compulsory cleaning charge of £15.76 applies to all bookings.

Located in the heartland of Germany's Fairy Tale Route, the fairy tale Christmas markets on the Königsplatz and Friedrichsplatz squares in Kassel are a truly magical experience. Every year the Kassel Christmas market presents a different theme, devoted to relaying all the wonderful fairy tales and stories written by the Brothers Grimm.

Attractions include the world’s tallest fairy tale pyramid and festive offerings at numerous stalls in the town centre.
