What a cracking corner of Cornwall this is: make a break for Bush Farm Wild Camping if you fancy peaceful times spent lounging by the Lynher river. There's certainly no shortage of space at this 200-acre site – woodland walks, strolls through green fields and waterside wanders by rivers and lakes are all on offer here. This family-friendly spot is a fab site to bring the kids to, especially if they're avid nature fans: these wild grounds are always rustling with local birds and beasts, and you can keep an eye out for the farm's friendly horses and dogs as well. When you roll up at this green and grassy spot, you'll be given a map and left to settle down wherever you please. Don't fancy trekking to get to the loo and showers? Opt for the main site instead and pitch up closer to the farm’s creature comforts. Off-site jaunts are also easily arranged in this well-connected part of the world – Saltash and the gorgeous river Tamar are 10 minutes' drive away, while Plymouth, on the other side of the Devon-Cornwall border, can be reached in about 25 minutes. Well-behaved dogs are welcome here. The Bush Farm Wild Camping crew are happy for you to light up a barbecue or firepit and can sort you out with bags of wood to help you get the flames flickering in no time.

Qué opinan los clientes

Bush Farm: acampada salvaje rústica y espaciosa en granja en funcionamiento, junto a río precioso. Elogios: libertad, personal amable, entorno natural tranquilo. Servicios básicos, limpios y funcionales. Aseo con agua caliente. Nota: terrenos con pendiente o acceso limitado, posible ruido. Una mala experiencia con el personal.

Me gustó Lovely open area with river for the dog. The evening food was amazing around a fire pit. And great music playing, very nice atmosphere.

Me gustó Freedom to park anywhere, so much space you can avoid people. We ended up on hill side which did limit where you could actually pitch due to slope, another time I think I would explore flatter option in fields along river.

If we had arrived earlier I may have spent more time driving around and exploring options,

Fire pits to use - no fee

To know that they were available to give a tow out if needed, it’s great to pitch where you like but potential to get stuck when not very experienced driving a new big heavy van

Me gustó I'd been following Bush Farm on Facebook for a few years, so I was really pleased to finally get the chance to visit with me and the dog.

If you're looking for glamping, hot tubs, fairy lights and someone to fluff your pillows, this probably isn't the place for you. But if you like proper camping, fresh air, and the feeling that you've escaped the modern world for a bit, it's fantastic.

The site has a great layout, plenty of space, and a beautiful river that my dog seemed to think had been installed purely for his entertainment. I spent far more time than I'd like to admit just sitting by the water doing absolutely nothing productive.

I also treated myself to a pizza, which was excellent. Nothing quite beats sitting outdoors with a good pizza after a day of wandering about pretending you're far more outdoorsy than you really are.

What I loved most was how back-to-basics it all is. No unnecessary fuss, no gimmicks, just a brilliant wild camping experience in a lovely setting. It's not for everyone, and that's exactly why it's so good.

I'll definitely be back and hopefully I’ll bring some friends.

Me gustó Had the best experience, Stuart was so friendly and helpful, especially when I lit my first campfire. The place is very rustic, very remote and just the tonic

No me gustó How dusty my car got but that didn’t outway the experience and would go back
Could do with hot water in the sink

Me gustó This place is exactly what it says it is...a lovely working farm where you can pick your spot and be basically unbothered.

We went in half term so the "prime real estate" by the river was fairly busy. Great for families with kids who want to adventure and play. We went up into one of the fields and pitched behind a rocky little woodland. It was lovely.

It is true that away from the river the fields are far less shaded, sloped and harder to access (4WD would have been handy!) but there is a huge amount of space to roam around and loads of pick your own pitches. We love to be well away from others so we are fairly difficult to please...and still we found a great pitch for our van and awning...you just have to take your time and be prepared to wander about a bit before deciding.

It is wonderful to be able to pick your own spot and to be wild and away from a lot of the normal rigid pitches and rules.

It is a working farm, so it isn't polished and pristine...but it is absolutely lovely with some fantastic scenery and a beautiful riverside. The tent only field is incredibly tranquil. If you understand that farming has messy bits the occasional rough area shouldn't come as a surprise.

Me gustó Location

No me gustó I was introduced to this campsite by friends and fall in love for the site immediately, stunning location, always felt safe and secure, so understandably I was looking forward to my stay this year.
How different my experience was this year, to the point I'll never come back to this site!
I arrived Tuesday after work around 2ish in the afternoon, there was nobody at the reception, the other years there was always someone at the reception! Because of the heat and my scatter brain, menopausal woman here, I forgot to call the numbers they have at the reception door and went straight to my favourite spot because I was desperate for shade because I had my dog and cat with me. So I proceeded to the last field, one of the reasons I fallen in love with this place, there's loads of room for disperse camping, if I wanted to be on top of each other I would of went to a conventional campsite. On arrival at the entrance of the last field I saw a red sign saying no vehicles past this point, thought that's strange because we always stayed on that field, I stop the car and went and check the field and saw that there was tracks on the grass, so I assumed people were there during the opening the past weekend, and I thought they put the sign in for insurance purposes, because in the entrance of the field the road is a bit "scary " but if you go slowly you can do it without problems, so I enter the field, went to my favourite spot, and set up camp, may I had, I litter pick before setting up, it wasn't bad, only a few bits of plastic, a hair crunchy and 2 dog poo bags.
I spent the next 3 days in total bliss and only saw 4 people during those days, none of them were camp staff, the other years there was a lovely gentleman on a quad bike going around every day checking everything was alright, so I assumed they must of changed management.
On the third day at 9.30 at night, a man barged in my site, never introduced himself, telling me that my car couldn't be there and that I had to move it, not back to the entrance of the field but to the opposite way, I tried to explain to him what I mentioned above, I thought someone went flying tro the "scary" bit of the road and broke their car/van and tried to sue then so to save themselves they put that sign at the entrance, the man was been intimidating and threatening which scared me because I was alone with my pets and there was nobody else in the field, I end up moving the car but because I didn't left exactly where he told me he turned nasty and demanded me to leave the site by 9am and he left. Needless to say this incident left me quite shaken and distressed, because of it I hardly slept that night, as soon as there was light I packed my things and left the site with tears in my eyes because I loved this place so much and was shocked with what happened the night before, I left the site better than I found it, spotless, because am a nature lover and am very respectful of my surroundings and other people, is a shame really because I was going to book another 2 nights.
I really hope the staff, or whoever that man was, to get some training in customer skills, because his skills were appoling! Approaching a single woman late at night in that matter is out of order!!!!

Me gustó The wide open spaces and free rein to explore and choose your pitch. The welcome was fantastic with all the information we needed given. Peaceful surroundings, lovely trees and easy to access river for wild swimming. Staying here feels like a genuine escape from life and was really relaxing.

No me gustó The long grass made things more difficult than a traditional campsite. I fell over twice in hidden holes so take care. It should be noted that the full 200 acres are not accessible in a traditional car but there is still plenty of room.

Lugares de interés

After a couple of days on this vast family farm, you'll probably be a dab hand at finding your way around a fair few of its 200 acres. Put those navigation skills to the test at The Amazing Cornish Maize Maze (five minutes' drive), a fiendishly tricky labyrinth that's planted in a different layout each summer. Adrenaline Quarry (20 minutes), an adventurous activities centre, has more family-friendly options to keep the small sorts on side. Grownups who fancy a break from DIY-style stays can indulge in a proper pampering at St. Mellion Estate (10 minutes), a posh Cornish resort with a top-notch golf course and soothing spa. Once your aches and pains have melted away, take a blissful saltwater bath at Whitsand Bay (20 minutes), or head to Looe harbour for wine by the sea and sunset strolls. The inimitable Eden Project (45 minutes) has been a mainstay of Cornish hols since it opened the doors to its domes back in 2001 – budding botanists and eager environmentalists will definitely want to make the trip.
