  • Peaceful and secluded 200-acre farm site on the river Lynher
  • A 10-minute drive from Saltash or 20 minutes from Looe
  • Pitch up wild-style anywhere on site or opt for field with facilities
What a cracking corner of Cornwall this is: make a break for Bush Farm Wild Camping if you fancy peaceful times spent lounging by the Lynher river. There's certainly no shortage of space at this 200-acre site – woodland walks, strolls through green fields and waterside wanders by rivers and lakes are all on offer here. This family-friendly spot is a fab site to bring the kids to, especially if they're avid nature fans: these wild grounds are always rustling with local birds and beasts, and you can keep an eye out for the farm's friendly horses and dogs as well. When you roll up at this green and grassy spot, you'll be given a map and left to settle down wherever you please. Don't fancy trekking to get to the loo and showers? Opt for the main site instead and pitch up closer to the farm’s creature comforts. Off-site jaunts are also easily arranged in this well-connected part of the world – Saltash and the gorgeous river Tamar are 10 minutes' drive away, while Plymouth, on the other side of the Devon-Cornwall border, can be reached in about 25 minutes. Well-behaved dogs are welcome here. The Bush Farm Wild Camping crew are happy for you to light up a barbecue or firepit and can sort you out with bags of wood to help you get the flames flickering in no time.

What customers say

Campers love the roomy, "wild" feel, picking spots in pretty country settings. It's a quiet escape, with many enjoying the river and nature. Facilities are simple but clean; hot showers get good reviews. Staff are always friendly and helpful. A few spots are a bit overgrown, and toilets could be cleaned more often. Some noise from other campers happens at busy times.

Primitive grass and earth tent or RV campsite (wild)

Liked Very big site with toilets scattered around. Lots of different areas to camp in. I chose No Man’s Land due to it being 18+ There were showers/toilets/washing facilities closeby and bins also. I parked up next to the river so was very peaceful. It’s a shame some people didn’t pay attention to the Child Free Zone!!

Liked Although it was crowded down by the river, there was plenty of space in a higher field. I love the location of this site as it's not far from the Tamar bridge.

Primitive grass and earth tent or RV campsite (wild)

Liked A fantastic site, so much space and it's beautiful. We managed to get a spot in the shade by the river and relaxed happily for a whole week. It was quieter in this field because you couldnt have your car by your tent. There were only a few people here so was lovely and peaceful. Much busier in other fields. Great Polish food truck and also a pizza van too. The owners were lovely and tried their best to keep everyone happy. A stunning place and will be coming again.

Disliked Not much to dislike as we chose a quiet camp area. Wouldn't have liked some of the other areas as there were loads of kids and was busy. Pretty noisy and some annoying people. Was the peak of August though so was expected.

Liked Love the vibe, the space the option to be involved with camp life or be secluded from the world. Staff are super friendly and just a really lovely place to be.

Disliked Loos aren’t great. Pretty dirty and smelly. Don’t think I saw them get cleaned the whole 10 days I was there.

Primitive grass and earth tent or RV campsite (wild)

Liked Options of different fields etc. Facilities were mostly good, and a good amount.
Food on site and availability of campfires, bins etc was good. Felt like a lot of thought had gone into it.

Disliked A few minor problems with some facilities (one very cold shower, and one with slipping mats, one toilet wouldnt flush) but mostly to be expected. and a lack of soap (but a good amount of toilet paper.

The only thing we were a bit unsure of, was the rule of no driving on site after 9pm, a bit of a problem if you want to go out locally in the eve, or dont make it back from an outing in time.

Local attractions

After a couple of days on this vast family farm, you'll probably be a dab hand at finding your way around a fair few of its 200 acres. Put those navigation skills to the test at The Amazing Cornish Maize Maze (five minutes' drive), a fiendishly tricky labyrinth that's planted in a different layout each summer. Adrenaline Quarry (20 minutes), an adventurous activities centre, has more family-friendly options to keep the small sorts on side. Grownups who fancy a break from DIY-style stays can indulge in a proper pampering at St. Mellion Estate (10 minutes), a posh Cornish resort with a top-notch golf course and soothing spa. Once your aches and pains have melted away, take a blissful saltwater bath at Whitsand Bay (20 minutes), or head to Looe harbour for wine by the sea and sunset strolls. The inimitable Eden Project (45 minutes) has been a mainstay of Cornish hols since it opened the doors to its domes back in 2001 – budding botanists and eager environmentalists will definitely want to make the trip.
